FRIDAY, November 13, 1807.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday, except Mr. Carroll, Mr. Blake and Mr.
Grahame. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Sudler, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to alter the time of holding
the county court of Queen-Anne's county, which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Kuhn, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act to establish a
bank, and incorporate a company, under the name of The Farmers Bank of Maryland, and for other purposes;

which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from the elders and wardens of the vestry of the German evangelic Lutheran congregation, in
Washington county, praying their title to certain lots may be confirmed, was preferred, read, and referred to
Mr. Tabbs,. Mr. Bowles and Mr. Schnebly, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Henry, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Samuel Burn, of Dorchester county, having taken the
petitioner's case under their serious consideration, and are of opinion that the prayer of the petitioner ought
not to be granted, and that the said petitioner have leave to withdraw his petition.

Which was read the first and second time by especial order. and concurred with.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act for quieting possessions, and securing and confirm-
ing the estates of purchasers. ORDERED, That Mr. T. Dorsey, Mr. Little, Mr. Shaaff, Mr. Sudler and Mr.
Bruce, be a committee to prepare and bring in the. same.

The bill for the relief of Thomas Dilworth, of Frederick county, was read the second time, passed, and sent
to the senate by the clerk.

A petition from Thomas South, of Washington county, praying he may be released from the payment of fines
imposed on him by said county court, and from the payment of costs of suit, and also to be released from con-
finement, was preferred, read, and. referred to Mr. Tabbs, Mr. Bowles and Mr. Schnebly, to consider and re-
pott thereon.

A petition from the vestry of. the German-Lutheran congregation at Saint-John's church in and about Eliza-
beth-town, praying a lottery may be authorised for the benefit of said church, was preferred, read, and referred
to Mr. Schnebly, Mr. Tabbs and Mr Bowles, to consider and report thereon.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act relating to public roads in the
several counties therein mentioned. ORDERED, That Mr. Frazier, Mr. Ennalls and Mr. Henry, be a commit-
tee to prepare and bring in the same

Mr. Jackson, from the committee. delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Robert Lea-
therbury, late sheriff of. Somerset county; which, was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Hall, from the committee, delivers, to, the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of William Ferguson report, that they have examined in-
to the facts stated in said petition, and find that the said William Ferguson, on the eleventh day of December,
seventeen hundred and ninety-three, made known to the agent of the state of Maryland, that a tract or parcel
of land lying in Prince-George's county, called Turkey Thicket, supposed to contain about one hundred acres
of land, adjoining Mrs. Morduit and Josias Ray's land; that on the 21st day of November, 1799, Robert
Brent, Esquire, purchased of the agent, the state's right In and to fifty acres, part of the said land, for the
price or sum of one hundred and fifty pounds current money, and passed his bond to the state for that amount,
and that the residue of the said land, lying in. Prince-George's county, remains undisposed of. Your committee
also find, that on the 20th clay of May, 1801, the said-Robert Brent paid to the treasurer of the western shore
the said sum of £150, with the interest due thereon, amounting in the whole to the sum of one hundred and sixty-
three pounds ten shillings current money; that by law the agent was authorised to allow to the discoverers of
confiscated British property one third part of the value thereof, but in as much as the whole amount of the pur-
chase money for the land aforesaid has been paid into the treasury, the petitioner cannot now obtain his part
thereof without the interposition of the legislature; your committee therefore submit the following resolu-
tion

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay unto William Ferguson, or his order, the sum of fif-
ty-four pounds ten shillings, being the one third part of the purchase money received by the state for land sold
by the agent as confiscated British property, he the said William Ferguson being the discoverer thereof.
