VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1806. 93

Mr. Shaaff, from the committee of grievances and courts of justice, delivers to the speaker the following re-
port:

THE committee of grievances and courts of justice, to whom was referred the petition of Ebenezer Perkins,
report, that they have taken the same under consideration. The application of the petitioner is attended with
no documents in support of it; the committee are therefore of opinion, that the petitioner have liberty to with-
draw his petition.

By order, L. GASSAWAY, clk.
Which was read the first and second time by especial order and concurred with.

The clerk of the senate delivers the following message:

By the SENATE, January 3, 1807.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates,

WE have reconsidered your resolution in favour of Jubb Fowler, and have assented thereto.

By order, T. ROGERS, clk.

Which was read.

And the resolution in favour of Jubb Fowler, endorsed " on reconsideration assented to. " Also the resolution
in favour of George W. Mann, endorsed " unanimously assented to. " The bill to alter and change the times of.
holding the court of oyer and ter. miner and gaol delivery for Baltimore county, the supplement to the act, entitled,
An act to lay out and open a road from the Pennsylvania line to the Susquehanna canal, in Caecil county, and
the bill for the relief of Ephraim Furnis and Littleton Furnis, of Worcester county, severally endorsed " will
pass. " Ordered to be engrossed.

On the second reading of the resolutions relative to Samuel Chase, the question was put, That the same be
referred to the next general assembly? The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:

The following message was read and agreed to.

By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, January 3, 1807.
Gentlemen of the Senate,

WE send back the bill, entitled, An act to lay out and make public a road in Charles county, with a hope
that on reconsideration, which we solicit, you will pass the same. We regret, that at this late period of the
session we are under the necessity of making the request, but assured that a number of respectable persons in
Charles county will suffer considerable inconvenience unless this bill shall pass, we are compelled to the measure,
though with great reluctance.

By order, J. BREWER, clk.

The report of the committee on the petition of Joseph Howard, and others, was read the second time, and
the resolution therein contained assented to.

The bill to ascertain and establish a permanent salary to the governor of this state, was read the second
time, and the question put, Shall the said bill pass? Determined in the negative.
The house adjourns till 5 o'clock P. M.

FIVE O'CLOCK P. M.
THE house met.
The engrossed bills from No. 31 to No. 61, inclusive, were read and assented to, and, with the resolution

-in favour of Samuel Moale, sent to the senate by the clerk.

The message requesting a reconsideration of the bill to make public a road in Charles county, together with
the bill, was sent to the senate by the clerk.

The resolution in favour of Joseph Howard, and others, was sent to the senate by the clerk.

The report of the committee on the petition of Joseph Dawson was read the second time, and the resolution
therein contained dissented from.

The following order was read.

ORDERED, That the bill, entitled, A supplement to an act, entitled, An act for the advancement of justice,
be published with the votes and proceedings of this session.

And the question put, That the same have a second reading? Determined in the negative.

The following resolution was read the first and second time by especial order and assented to.

RESOLVED, That the governor and council. be authorised to furnish the house of delegates with twenty-one
convenient writing desks, with four separate drawers each, for the use of the delegation from each county, and
the delegation from the city of Annapolis and Baltimore, and that each desk be marked for the use of the par-
