counties aforesaid, so soon as the said schools respectively shall be fit for the reception of twenty scholars, and
the trustees of the said schools respectively, or a majority of them, may draw upon the treasurer for the afore-
said sum of four hundred dollars each, as the same becomes due. " The yeas and nays being required, appeared

So it was determined in the negative.

On motion, the question was put, That the further consideration of the said bill be referred to the first day
of June next? Determined in the negative.

On motion, the question was put, That the said bill be recommitted to the consideration of a special com-
mittee? Resolved in the affirmative.

The house proceeded to ballot for said committee; the ballots being deposited in the ballot box, the gentle-
men named to strike retired, and after sometime returned and reported, that Mr. Chapman, Mr. Bruce, Mr.
Sudler, Mr. Watts, Mr. Little, Mr. Winder and Mr. Kerr, were elected.

The bill to compel the vestry of Shrewsbury parish, in Kent county, to fulfil the contracts and engagements
of the former vestry, was read the second time and passed.

A petition from the inhabitants of Frederick-town, in Caecil county, praying a law may pass to prevent swine
and geese from going at large in said town, was preferred, read, and referred to the committee appointed on the
petition from said county of a similar nature.

The bill to compel justices of the peace to return all recognizances taken before them, was read the second
time and passed.

Mr. Kerr, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act supplementary to the act for
erecting a town in Talbot county, and to the act for the regulation and improvement of Easton; which was read
the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The bill to stop up, enclose and improve, a ten foot alley in the city of Baltimore, was read the second time
and passed.

Mr. Forwood, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A further supplement to the act,
entitled, An act to lay out and make a public road from the Black House, in Harford county, to the Pennsylva-
nia line; which was read the first and second time by especial order and passed.

The amendments proposed to the bill authorising the proprietors of the French-town and New-Castle water
and land stages to open a road therein mentioned, were read the second time, agreed to, and the bill ordered to
be engrossed.

Mr. Harryman, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, Ah act authorising the levy court
of Baltimore county to levy a sum of money for the purpose therein mentioned; which was read the first time
and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Kerr, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A supplement to the act, entitled. An act
Jo appoint a wreckmaster for Worcester county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The bill to authorise and empower the commissioners of the city of Baltimore to alter and extend the streets
therein mentioned, was read the second time and passed.

On motion, ORDERED, That Mr. Shaaff, Mr. Sudler and Mr. Bruce, be appointed a committee to examine
the state of the records in the land-office for the western-shore, and make report to this house.

The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

WEDNESDAY, December 24, 1806.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday, except Mr. Bond and Mt. White. The
proceedings of yesterday were read.

The further supplement to the act, entitled, An act to lay out and make a public road from the Black House,
in Harford county, to the Pennsylvania line, the bill to authorise and empower the city commissioners of the
city of Baltimore to alter and extend the streets therein mentioned, the bill to stop up, enclose and improve, a
ten foot alley in the city of Baltimore, the bill to compel justices of the peace to return all recognizances taken
before them, and the bill to compel the vestry of Shrewsbury parish, in Kent county, to fulfil the contracts and
engagement's of the former vestry, were sent to the senate by the clerk.
A petition from sundry inhabitants of Baltimore county, praying a road from the angle of the Reister's-town
turnpike, near Edward Johnson's, to the York turnpike road, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Harry-
man, Mr. tittle and Mr. M. Brown, to consider and report thereon
