The clerk of the senate delivers the resolution relative to a bridge across Patowmack river, endorsed "as-
sented to. " The bill to change the place of holding the election in the first election district of Baltimore coun.
ty, endorsed "will not pass. " And the following message:

By the SENATE, December 20, 1806.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates

THE senate having nearly finished all the business before them, and being sensible that there is a disposition.
in both branches of the legislature to close the session us soon as it can be done consistent with the discharge
of the public business, propose to rise on Saturday next.

We flatter ourselves that this proposition will not only be agreeable to you but is justified by a fair presump-
tion that all the business of the session may be conveniently finished by that time.

Which was read.

A letter from the clerk of the council was read, praying a compensation for arranging the papers in the coun-
cil chamber, and referred to Mr. Sudler, Mr. Shaaff, Mr. Chapman, Mr. Davis and Mr. Little, to consider

and report thereon.
The following rule was read and agreed to, to wit;
That on all questions of reference or postponement a discussion of. the merits of the subject before the house

hall be permitted.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Baltimore and Harford counties, praying a road from the state line to
Towson's tavern, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Street, Mr. Harryman, Mr. Winder, Mr. M. Brown
and Mr. Little, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Ward, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act to provide
for the appointment of commissioners for the regulation and improvement of Cambridge, in Dorchester county,

and to establish and regulate a market in said town; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
A petition from. Gabriel Thomas, praying a special act of insolvency was preferred, read, and referred to the
committee appointed on petitions of a similar nature.

The bill for the relief of the representatives of George Sharky, of Washington county, was read the second
time and passed,

The house adjourns until Monday morning 9 o'clock.

MONDAY December 22, 1806.

THE house met. Present the same members as on Saturday, except Mr. Gale. The proceeding of Sa-
turday were read.

The resolutions relative to bills of exchange, the bill for the relief of the representatives of George Sharky,
of Washington county, and the bill to alter, change and amend, a road in Anne-Arundel county, were lent to
the senate by the clerk.

On motion, ORDERED, That the bill for the relief of the sheriff's of the several counties of this state, have
a second reading on Wednesday next.

The bill to enable the trustees of the Roman catholic church, in the city of Baltimore, to purchase piece
cf ground therein mentioned, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled. An act relating to orphans. ORDERED, That Mr. Ward,
Mr. Chapman and Mr. Mitchell; be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.

The further supplement to the act, entitled, An act for erecting a village in Caroline county, and for other

purposes therein mentioned, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act vesting certain powers in the congress of the
United States. ORDERED, That Mr. Bruce, Mr; Chapman, Mr, Carroll, Mr. Rizer and Mr. Little, be a com-
mittee to prepare and bring in the same.

On. motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act to prevent duelling. ORDERED, That Mr. Ward,
Mr. P. Stuart, Mr. Chapman, Mr. Watts and Mr. Sudler, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.

The further additional supplement to an act, entitled, An act relating to public roads in this state, and to re-

peal the acts of assembly therein mentioned, was read the second time and passed.
