52 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1806.

A petition from Joseph Dawson, stating that he had been wounded in the army, and praying a pension, was
preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Kerr, Mr. Aisquith and Mr. Chapman, to consider and report thereon,

The amendment proposed to the additional supplement to an act, entitled. An act for regulating the mode of
staying execution, and repealing the acts of assembly therein mentioned, and for other purposes, was read the
second time, agreed to, and the bill ordered to be engrossed.

Mr. Aisquith, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to stop up, enclose and
improve, a ten foot alley in the city of Baltimore; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the
table.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act to alter the time of holding the county court in
Worcester county. ORDERED, That Mr. Sturgis, Mr. Bishop and Mr. Kerr, be a committee to prepare and
bring in the same.

Mr. Aisquith, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower
the commissioners of the city of Baltimore to alter and extend the streets therein mentioned; which was read
the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The clerk of the senate delivers the resolutions relative to the propositions made by the state of Tennessee,
endorsed " assented to with the proposed amendment; " which amendment was read. The bill authorising Tho-
mas Bailey, late sheriff and collector of Baltimore county, to complete his collection, and other purposes, en-
dorsed " will pass with the proposed amendments; " which amendments were read the first and second time by
especial order, agreed to, and the bill ordered to be engrossed. The bill to enable the levy court of Washing-
ton county to alter and change the direction of a road therein mentioned, the bill to authorise commissioner
to review the roads leading through the plantation of Henry Hershberger, of Frederick county, the bill autho-
rising the levy court of Allegany county to levy a sum of money for the purposes therein mentioned, and the
bill for the relief of Samuel Jones, of the city of Baltimore, severally endorsed " will pass" Ordered to be
engrossed. And the bill for the relief of James Cruikshanks, of Kent county endorsed will not pass. "

A petition from Arnold Duncan, praying a special act of insolvency, was preferred, read, and referred to the
committee appointed on petitions of a similar nature.

Mr. Street, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

Whereas the auditor general was directed, by a resolution passed at the last session of the general assembly,
to examine and report to the general assembly what sum of money, if any, is due to William Amos, senior, of
Harford county, on account of a claim therein specified: And whereas the auditor-general has made a report
unfavourable to the petitioner, from the want of sufficient vouchers to support the said claim, and the said Wil-
liam Amos alleges, that he will be able to produce such testimony as will be sufficient to substantiate his claim
aforesaid, to the satisfaction of the auditor, upon further time being given him; therefore, RESOLVED, That
the auditor be and he is hereby required to examine and report to the next general assembly, what sum of mo-
ney, if any, is due to William Amos, senior, of Harford county, on account of expences incurred by him in
superintending the execution of a commission which issued in behalf of the state, at the instance of the late
intendant, to settle the lines of a tract of land lying in Harford county, called The Grove, whereby the state
has been materially benefitted.

Which was read the first and second time by especial order, and the resolution therein contained assented to,
and sent to the senate by the clerk.

Mr. Moffit, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act authorising the commissioner
of Charles-town, in Caecil county, to purchase a lot of ground for the purpose therein mentioned; which was
read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The bill for the payment of the civil list, and other expences of civil government, was read the second time,
passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
ORDERED, That the resolution relative to Pratt-street be withdrawn.

Mr. Winder, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the opening of Pratt-
street in the city of Baltimore; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

ORDERED, That the same have a second reading on Thursday next.

The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.
TUESDAY, December 16, 1806.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.
A petition from Richard Forrest, and others, of the city of Washington, praying that a law may pass autho-
rising the sale of certain property, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Hall, Mr. B. Hodges, Mr. Callis,
Mr. Shaaff and Mr. Chapman, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from Trueman Tyler, of Prince-George's county, praying a law may pass authorising him to trans-
cribe a record in the register of wills office for said county, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. B. Hodges,
Mr. Pearce, Mr. Gillis, Mr. Woodward and Mr. M'Pherson, to consider and report thereon.
