On motion, the question was then put. That the following be added to the said bill? to wit: " And be it
enacted, That the third section of the act of assembly, entitled, An act for the advancement of justice, passed
at October session, seventeen hundred and sixty-three, be and the same is hereby repealed, so far as relates to
civil suits. " Determined in the negative.

The question was then put, Shall the said bill pass? Resolved in the affirmative.

Mr. Bowles, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled. An act for the relief of the represen-
tatives of George Sharky, of Washington county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Fell's Point, praying a road from the upper end of Bond-street, Fell's
Point, to intersect the York road below where the Falls turnpike road intersects it, was preferred, read, and
referred to Mr. Aisquith, Mr. M. Brown, Mr, Jackson, Mr. R. Steuart and Mr. Harryman, to consider and
report thereon.

Mr. Hebb, from the committee, delivers, to the speaker the bill, entitled, An act to prohibit the emigration
of free negroes into this state, as amended; which was read the first lime and ordered to lie on the table.

The bill to provide a direct mode by which information shall be conveyed to persons appointed to office by the
executive of their respective appointments, and for other purposes therein mentioned, was read the second time
and passed.

Mr. Blakistone, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to compel justices of the
peace to take cognizance of persons retailing spirituous liquors in the recess of court, and for other purposes;

which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
The house adjourns until Monday morning 9 o'clock.

MONDAY, December 15, 1806.,

THE house met. Present the. same members as on Saturday. The proceedings of Saturday were read.

The bill authorising the proprietors of the French-town and New-Castle water and land stages to open a road
from French-town, in Caecil county, to intersect the divisional line between this state and the state of Dela-
ware, the bill to provide a direct mode by which information shall be conveyed to persons appointed to office by
the executive of their respective appointments, and for other purposes therein mentioned, the bill supplementa-
ry to an act to provide tor the organization and regulation of the courts of common law in this state, and for
the. administration of justice therein, and the bill concerning the chancery court, were sent to the senate by
the clerk.

Mr. Selby, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act enlarging the powers of the
trustees of the poor of Montgomery county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. R. Steuart, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to enable the trustees of
the Roman catholic church in the city of Baltimore to purchase a piece of ground therein mentioned; which
was. read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The report on the petition of John C. Bond, was read the second time, the resolution therein contained ab-
sented, to, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

Mr. Jump, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the further supplement to the act, entitled, An act for
erecting a village at Choptank bridge, in Caroline county, and for other purposes therein mentioned, as amend-
ed; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Washington county, praying a road from the state line at Peter Baker's,
to intersect the main road leading from Hagar's-town to Baltimore, through Charlton's Gap, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. Schnebly, Mr. Bowles and Mr. Kuhn, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from Sally Lutig, of the city of Baltimore, praying to be divorced from her husband, was pre-
ferred, read, and referred to Mr. Aisquith, Mr. Dennis and Mr. Kerr, to consider and report thereon.

Petitions from George Robertson, of Somerset county, and Stephen Reyner and John Simmonds, of Talbot
county, praying special acts of insolvency, were, preferred, read, and referred to the committee appointed on
petitions of a similar nature.
