mas Clarke and William Hall, devisees of Benjamin Hall, late of Prince-George's county, deceased; which
was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

THURSDAY, November 27, 1806.
THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday, except Mr. C. D. Hodges. The proceed-
ings of yesterday were read.
A memorial from sundry inhabitants of Charles county, praying that the road leading through Ignatius Mid-
dleton's land to the Upper Zachia church may be declared a public road, was preferred, read, and referred to
Mr. M'Pherson, Mr. Chapman and Mr. Parnham, to consider and report thereon.
The bill for the relief of John Figg, of Montgomery county, was read the second time, passed, and with the
resolution in favour of Edward Reynolds, of Calvert county, sent to the senate by the clerk.
A petition from John G. Beck, of the city of Baltimore, praying a special act of insolvency, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. Aisquith, Mr. Bond and Mr. R. Steuart, to consider and report thereon.
A petition from Capt. Thomas Moor, of the city of Baltimore, praying to be appointed harbour-master for
foreign vessels in the port of Baltimore, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. R. Steuart, Mr. Aisquith and
Mr. Little, to consider and report thereon.
The house resumed the consideration of the bill to incorporate the stockholders of the Mechanics Bank of
Baltimore; on motion, the question was put, Will the house reconsider the seventh section thereof. Resolved
in the affirmative.
On motion, the question was then put, That the following words be added to said clause? viz. " And after
the state shall have subscribed, and elected directors aforesaid, the stockholders at the next election of directors
shall only elect as many directors as, together with the state directors, will amount to the number of fifteen. "
Resolved in the affirmative.
On motion, the question was put, That the house reconsider the third article of said bill? Resolved in the
normative.
The question was then put, That the following words be added thereto? " And that one fifth of the director
ejected by the stockholders shall go out annually, of which fifth only one shall be a mechanic or manufacturer,
unless such description of directors shall exceed the number nine. " Resolved in the affirmative.
The question was then put, Shall the said bill pass? Resolved in the affirmative.
A petition from sundry inhabitants of Prince-George's county, praying for a public road leading from Spald-
ing's tavern through the lands of Thomas Hawkins Hanson to the city of Washington, was preferred, read, and
referred to Mr. Callis, Mr. Hall, Mr. Woodward, Mr. Lyles and Mr. M'Pherson, to consider and report
thereon.
The bill to lay out and open a certain road in Caecil county, was read the second time and passed.
Mr. Forwood, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to appoint and authorise
commissioners to review and lay out the road therein mentioned in Harford county; which was read the first
time and ordered to lie on the table.
The clerk of the senate delivers the bill authorising justices of the orphans courts to take sheriffs bonds, en-
dorsed " will pass with the proposed amendment; " which amendment was read. And the bill for the benefit of
Hugh Lemmon and James Burton, endorsed. " will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed.
Mr. Bond, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the report on the executive communications relative
to the bank stock, as amended; which was read.
On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act supplementary to an act, entitle An act to lay
out and open a public road in Hopkins's Neck, in Talbot county.
On motion, the question was put, That the house excuse Mr. Kerr from acting on the committee to prepare
