and after the first day of June next, and no longer.

Which was read.

A petition from Thomas Goldsborough, and others, of Caroline county, counter to the petition of Thomas
Hardcastle, was preferred, read, and referred to the committee appointed on the petition of the said Hardcastle.

On motion, ORDERED, That one hundred copies of the act vesting temporary powers in the several clerks in
the several counties of this state, be immediately published, and the governor is hereby requested to transmit,
as soon as may be, one copy to each of the clerks and registers of wills of the several counties.

The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

FRIDAY, December 6, 1805.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read
Mr. Watts appeared in the house; Mr. Charles Gibson, a committee clerk, also appeared.

A petition from Jesse Jarrett, of Harford county, stating, that he purchased from the state part of the re-
served land in said county, and that by a determination of the court of appeals the petitioner was compelled to
convey to David West 401 1/2 acres, part thereof, and praying that the purchase money paid by him for the same
may be refunded with interest, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Ayres, Mr. Montgomery and Mr.
Forwood, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from Joshua and Thomas Meredith, of Baltimore county, stating, that John Christison purchased
lot No. 71 and lot No. 79, part of My Lady's Manor, and transferred the same to the petitioners, but in con-
sequence of the purchaser's name appearing on the intendant's books to be William Christison, instead of John,
the petitioners cannot obtain grants for said lots, and praying that grants may be directed to issue, was pre-
ferred, read, and referred to Mr. Lemmon, Mr. Harryman and Mr. Ayres, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Ellicott, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act, entitled,
An act for introducing a copious supply of wholesome water into the city of Baltimore; which was read the
first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The bill, entitled, An act to lay out and open a road from the Pennsylvania line by John Frey's forge, on Oc-
torara creek, to the tide water on the Susquehanna, in Caecil county, was read the second time and passed.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, A further additional supplement to an act, entitled, An
act to incorporate companies to make several turnpike roads through Baltimore county, and for other purposes.
ORDERED, That Mr. Ringgold, Mr. Bowles and Mr. Bruce, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.

Petitions from Joseph Kidder, Thomas Jones, Walter S. Hunt and James. Maydwell, of Alexander, of the
city of Baltimore, praying acts of insolvency, were preferred,, read, and referred to the committee appointed
on petitions of a similar nature.

The bill, entitled, A supplement to an act, entitled, An act to establish a market, and to build a market-
house, in the western precincts of Baltimore, and for the regulation of the same, was read the second time and
passed, which, together with the bill, entitled, A further additional supplement to an act, entitled, An act for
marking and bounding lands, and the bill to open a road from the Pennsylvania line to the tide water on Sus-
quehanna, in Caecil county, was sent to the senate by the clerk.

A petition from Colmore Duvall, of Prince-George's county, praying that the levy courts of Prince-George's
and Anne-Arundel counties may be authorised to levy a sum of money for the purpose of paying the petitioner
for rebuilding a bridge over Patuxent river, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Hall, Mr. Higgins, Mr.
Contee, Mr. Merriken and Mr. Van-Horn, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Contee, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Rinaldo Johnson and Elisha Berry, securities of Tho-
mas Williams, former collector of the taxes for Prince-George's county, report, that they have examined into
the facts set forth in the said petition, and find that a fieri facias issued against the said Rinaldo Johnson and
Elisha Berry, returnable to October term, seventeen hundred and ninety, for the sum of fifteen thousand eight
hundred and nineteen pounds and eight-pence; that the said fieri facias was actually laid to the amount of four-
teen thousand five hundred and thirty-five pounds five shillings, as appears by an extract from the late general
court office, of the schedule returned by Edward Lloyd Wailes, the then sheriff of Prince-George's county.
Your committee find, that by a resolution of November session, seventeen hundred and ninety, the chancellor
was authorised to adjust, or cause to be adjusted, all claims that the securities of Thomas Williams, late col-
lector of the taxes in Prince-George's county, had against the state, and to liquidate the same in such manner
as to him should appear equitable and right, and upon such liquidation to decree the debt due from the said se-
curities. Your committee find, that in pursuance of the said resolution the chancellor did liquidate the claims
of the securities against the state, from which it appears, that at the time the said fieri facias was laid in se-
venteen hundred ninety, there was only the sum of fourteen hundred and thirty-one pounds thirteen shillings
and one penny due from the said securities, which sum is thirteen thousand one hundred and three pounds ele-
ven shillings, and eleven-pence less than, the fieri facias was laid for. Your committee find, by the account and
