26 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1805.

Mr. Carroll, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to alter the time of the
meeting of the general assembly of this state, and for other purposes; which was read the first time and order-
ed to lie on the table.

Mr. Hyland, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Richard
Waters, of William, Ezekiel Gilliss and. Richard Minish, of Somerset county; which was read the first time
and ordered to he on the table.

A petition from the trustees of the poor of Washington county, praying a law may pass to levy a sum of mo-
ney on said county for the purpose of making an addition to the poor-house, was preferred, read, and referred
to Mr. Ringgold, Mr. Bowles and Mr. Smith, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Holbrook delivers a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Amelia Chance, of Caroline county; which
Was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Holbrook, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of William Camper, senior, of Caroline county, report,
that they have taken the same into consideration, and are of opinion that the county court of Caroline county
do possess competent power to afford relief to the said petitioner; they are therefore of opinion that the
prayer of the petitioner ought not to be granted.

By order, C. GIBSON, clk.
Which was read the first and second time by especial order and concurred with.

The bill, entitled, An act for the establishment of a school in the city of Baltimore, was read the second

time by especial order, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

Mr. Chapman, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to authorise the judges of

the general court to send causes to the respective counties for trial, to facilitate the taking of depositions of

witnesses, and to prevent the removal of causes for delay from the county courts to the general court, and for
the regulation of fees in the general court, chancery court and court of appeals; which was read the first time
and ordered to lie on the table.

On motion, the question was put, That the said bill be the order of the day for Wednesday the fourth day
of December next? The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:

On motion, Leave given to bring in a further additional supplement to the act, entitled, An act for quieting
possessions, enrolling conveyances, and securing the estates of purchasers. ORDERED, That Mr. Shaaff,
Mr. Cottman, Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Stephen and Mr. Mercer, be a committee to prepare and bring in the
same,

The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

TUESDAY. November 26, 1805.

THE house met, Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

On motion. Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act relating to the jurisdiction of the high court of
chancery, general court and county courts, and for other purposes. ORDERED, That Mr. Watts, Mr. Mont-
gomery and Mr. M'Pherson, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.

Petitions from William Starr, of the city of Baltimore, Edward H. Smith and George Vance, of Somerset
county, and Jonathan Waters, of Anne-Arundel county, praying acts of insolvency, were preferred, read, and

referred to the committee appointed on petitions of a similar nature.

A petition from Abraham Jones, and others, of Montgomery county, praying that a law may pass authorising
the said Jones to convey the lands therein mentioned to the purchasers thereof, was preferred, read, and re-
ferred to Mr. Linthicum, Mr. Watts and Mr. Van-Horn, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Watts, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act relating to the jurisdiction
of the high court of chancery, general court, county courts, and for other purposes; which was read the first
time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Linthicum, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Abram Jones, and others, report, that they have had
the same under consideration, and are of opinion that the court of chancery has power to afford relief to the
purchasers of the land mentioned in the said petition, and that it is unnecessary for the legislature to interfere;
