VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1805. 25

The bill, entitled, An act to authorise a lottery in Frederick-town, in Frederick county, was read the second
time and passed.

The house adjourns until Monday morning 9 o'clock.

MONDAY, November 25, 1805.

THE house met. Present the same members as on Saturday. The proceedings of Saturday were read.
Mr. Harryman has leave of absence for a few days.

On motion. Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act to repeal the second section of an act, entitled,
An act to enlarge further the powers of the trustees of the poor in the several counties therein mentioned,
passed at last session of assembly. ORDERED, That Mr. Bayard, Mr. Van-Horn, Mr. Turpin, Mr. Holbrook
and Mr. Lemmon, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act concerning estates tail. OR-
DERED, That Mr. Watts, Mr. Parnham, Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Somervell and Mr. Chapman, be a committee

to prepare and bring in the same.

Mr. Sadler, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act authorising James Hackett,
and others, securities of James R. Pratt, late sheriff, and John B. Hackett and Richard E. Harrison, late col-
lectors, of Queen-Anne's county, to complete the collection of the money due the said sheriff and collectors;
which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Petitions from Benjamin Wailes, of Somerset county, John H. Barney, of Baltimore county, and Richard
G. Rawlings, of Anne-Arundel county, praying acts of insolvency, were preferred, read, and referred to the
committee appointed on petitions of a similar nature.

The bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower Samuel Hooper, of Dorchester county, to convey the

tracy of land therein mentioned, was read the second time and passed, which, together with the bill to autho-

rise a lottery in Frederick-town in Frederick county, was sent to the senate by the clerk.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Caecil county, praying that a law may pass, to lay out and open a road
from John Frey's forge, on Octorara creek, to the tide water on Susquehanna, was preferred, read, and referred
to Mr. Porter, Mr. Cox and Mr. Moffit, to consider and report thereon.

The report on the petition of James Boarman, of Charles county, was read the second time and the resolu-
tion therein contained assented to.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act to authorise commissioners to change the place of
holding the election in the third election district in Somerset county. ORDERED, That Mr. Cottman, Mr.
Jackson and Mr. Hyland, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.

Mr. Watts, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act concerning
estates tail; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

On motion, the question was put, That the bill, entitled, A supplement to an act, entitled, An act to incor-
porate companies to make several turnpike roads through Baltimore county, and for other purposes, be made
the order of the day for Monday the ninth of December next? Determined in the negative.

The question was then put, That the same be made the order of the day for Tuesday the third of December
next? Resolved in the affirmative.

The clerk of the senate delivers a letter from the executive, enclosing a letter received by them from the se-
cretary at war of the United States, requiring a return of the militia of this state, endorsed; " By the senate,

November 22, 1805: Read and referred to the consideration of the house of delegates.

"By order, T. W. HALL, clk. "

Also a return made by the visitors of Frederick county school, endorsed; " By the senate, November 25, 1805:
" Read and referred to the consideration of the house of delegates.

" By order, T. W. HALL, clk. "
Which were read and ordered to lie on the table.

And the bill authorising Lawrence Brengle, late collector of Frederick county, to complete his collections, en-
dorsed; "By the senate, November 19, 1805: Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

" By order, T. W. HALL, clk.
" By the senate, November 23, 1805: Read the second time and will not pass.

" By order, T. W. HALL, clk. "

Mr. Ellicott, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the establishment of a
school in the city of Baltimore; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Prideaux, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to ratify and confirm the
proceedings of the committee of the Buckingham congregation in Worcester county, and for other purposes;
which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The bill, entitled, An act for the more effectual preservation of wild deer in Somerset county, was read the
second time and passed.
