THURSDAY, November 21, 1805.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Petitions from William Boyce and Peter Sewart, of the city of Baltimore, praying acts of insolvency, were
preferred, read, and referred to the committee appointed on petitions of a similar nature.

Mr. M'Pherson, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of James Boarman, of Charles county, report, that they
have taken the same into consideration, and believe the facts therein stated to be true; they are therefore of
opinion, as the petitioner has paid into the treasury the sum of five hundred and nine pounds five shillings, in
consequence of his father having been security for Benjamin Cawood, former sheriff and collector of public
taxes for Charles county, who is since insolvent, it would be reasonable and just to indulge the petitioner for
the balance due until the first day of December, eighteen hundred and six; they therefore submit the following
resolution:

RESOLVED, That all proceedings against James Boarman, and others, for the recovery of the balance due by
him to the state of Maryland, be and they are hereby suspended until after the ——— day of ———, eighteen
hundred ———, and that the said James Boarman be and he is hereby indulged in the payment of the said ba-

lance till the period before mentioned; provided, that the judgement shall continue and be in full force, notwith-

standing the suspension of proceedings directed by this resolution, and if the balance that will then be due on
the aforesaid judgment be not paid by the time aforesaid, an execution may again be issued against the said James
Boarman, to enforce the payment thereof.

Which was read.

On motion, ORDERED, That Mr. Stephen, Mr. Ellicott and Mr. Harryman, be a committee to consider
and report on the petition of John R. Caldwell, of the city of Baltimore.

On the second reading of the report and resolution in favour of Joseph Mills, of Saint-Mary's county, the
question was put, That the words " with interest thereon from September, seventeen hundred and eighty-one, "
be stricken out ? Determined in the negative.

The resolution being read throughout, the question was put, That the house concur with the said report and
assent to the resolution therein contained ? Resolved in the affirmative.

The following resolution being propounded to the house was read, and made the order of the day for Friday,
the 29th instant.

RESOLVED, That so soon as the ensuing instalment of the two hundred thousand dollars, loaned by this state
for the use of the city of Washington, shall have been paid, the treasurer of the western shore be and he is
hereby authorised and required to subscribe, on the behalf of this state, for so many of the shares in the Far-
mers Bank of Maryland, reserved for the state, as the said instalments shall amount to, and immediately to pay
to the president and directors of the Farmers Bank of Maryland the amount of the shares so subscribed.

The following message being prepared and agreed to, was sent, with the resolution in favour of Joseph Mills,

to the Senate by the clerk.

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES, November 21, 1805.
GENTLEMEN OF THE SENATE
WE propose to proceed immediately to the election of two directors on the part of this state in the Union
Bank of Maryland. Thomas Dickson, 'Benjamin Williams, Alexander Rogers, Alexander Contee and Edward
Johnson, Esquires, are put in nomination by this house. Mr. Stephen and Mr. Hebb are appointed by the
house of delegates to join the gentlemen appointed by you in the examination of the ballots; and to regulate
the manner of said election we have adopted the following resolution:

RESOLVED, That the two directors to be appointed on the part of this state in the Union Bank of Maryland,
be elected by ballot, and the two persons having a majority of the ballots be declared duly elected directors
on the part of this state in the Union Bank of Maryland.

BY THE SENATE, November 21, 1805.
GENTLEMEN or THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

WE agree to proceed immediately to the election of two directors on the part of this state in the Union Bank
of Maryland. No person is put in nomination by the senate in addition to those mentioned in your message.
Mr. Thomas and Mr, Partridge will join the gentlemen named by your house in the examination of the ballots.
We have adopted the resolution sent with your message, with the following amendment: In the fifth line of the
