Court 1724 that Nathaniel Pearce of Shrewsberry parish in Kent County afd Gent the first Day of September Anno Domini Seventeen hundred and twenty four at the parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court in and upon a Certain Katherine Porter in the peace of God and of the s.d Lord prop.ry then and there being with force and Arms an Assault Did make and her y.e s.d Katherine then and there Did Beat wound & Evily treat so that of her life it was much Dispared and other harms to her then and there Did to the great Damage of the same Katherine And Contrary to the peace of the s.d Lord prop.ry that now is his good Rule and Government &c.a wherefore the afd Attry prayeth the Advice of the Court herein the premisses for the s.d Lord prop.ry and Due process of Law against the afd Nathaniel in this part to Issue to Answer to the s.d Lord prop.ry of and upon y.e premisses &c.a M Howard And the afd Nathaniel pleads not guilty and for Tryal puts himself on y.e Country Nath.l Pearce in p psona And he who follows for y.e s.d Lord prop.ry says he is guilty M Howard And the s.d Nathaniel afterwards to wit the same Day and Year afd Comes into Court and Relinquishes his plea afd and Saith that he Cannot gainsay the premisses afd above upon him Imposed and Acknowledges himself guilty of the assault and Battery afd as by the afd Information it is alledged And thereupon Submits to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here this Seventeenth Day of Nov.br Anno Domini Seventeen hundred and twenty four that the afd Nathaniel Pearce pay to the Right Honourable the Lord prop.ry of this province the sume of five hundred pounds of Tob.o as a fine for his afd Offence of Committing assault & Battery in form afd Confest and also that he the s.d Nath.l pay the sume of three hundred and fifty Six pounds of Tobacco Costs Accrueing on the premisses af to the officers of this Court Jam.s Smith Clk The afd Nathaniel Pearce his Recognizance taken last Court in the Sume of ten pounds Sterling ^money^ to be leveyed &c.a for the use of his s.d Lordship the Lord prop.ry of this province his heirs &c.a Conditionally that if he Should not appears |
