        On the back of the preceeding Indictment was as follows viz.t
    A true Bill by Thomas Hynson foreman

    And the afd John Evans in his proper person comes and saith
that he is in no sort guilty of the premisses above upon him Impos'd
as by the afd Indictment it is alledged and thereof he putteth
himself upon the Country

    And he who followeth for the Lord proprietary in like manner
saith he is guilty

    Thereupon Command was given to the Sherrf of Kent County
that he Imediately cause to some here twelve &c by whom &c.a who
neither &c to Recognize &c because as well &c of which said pcept
the said Sherrf to wit John Gresham Gent now here at this day to wit
the twenty fourth day of Nov.r Anno Dom Seventeen hundred twenty
& Seven makes return that he hath here ready twelve &c as by
his pcept he was Commanded And now here afterwards to wit
the Day & year last menconed come again the afd John Evans in
his pper pson and the afd Lord prop.ry by Tench Francis his Attry
and the Jurors of that Jury being Impanelled and Called likewise
Came to wit Francis Barney Thomas Hynson Jun.r Thomas
Medford Roger Hailes Will.m Dean Abram Redgrave Jun.r John
Cooper Benjamin Griffith Thomas Massey William Sinxcocks
James Kear Who being duly Elected trued and Sworn to say the truth
in the psses upon their oaths do say that the afd John Evans is
guilty of the Assault and Battery in the Indictment afd Specefyed
and by Francis Barney their foreman allso say

    Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit this twenty
fourth day of Novemb.r Anno Dom Seventeen hundred twenty &
Seven that the afd John Evans pay the sum of two hundred &
fifty pounds of Tobacco as a fine for his afd Offence of Committing
the assault & battery afd Als it is Considered that the said John
pay the sum of Nine hundred fifty nine pounds of Tobacco Costs
accruing on the psses afd
