 Kent County fs.t The Jurors for the Right Honourable
the Lord prop.ry of this that now is for the Body of Kent
County afd upon their oath Do present that Aron Alford
of S.t pauls parish in the County afd planter the tenth Day of July
Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty Seven at the parish afd
in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court in and upon a
Certain Phebe Johnson in the peace of God and of the s.d Lord prop.ry
then and there being with force and Arms an Assault Did make and
her the said Phebe then and there Did Beat wound and Evilly treat so
that of her life it was much Dispaired and other harms to her
then and there Did to the great Damage of y.e s.d Phebe and Contrary
to the peace of y.e Said Lord prop.ry that now is his Rule and Governm.t
&c.a                                                T francis Cler. pac.

Test Phebe Johnson                    On the Back of y.e preceeding Indictment
was as foll.s viz.t A True Bill by Will.m Ringgold foreman

    And the afd Aron Alford in his proper person Comes and Saith that he is
in no Sort Guilty of the premisses above upon him Imposed as by the
afd Indictment it is alledged and thereof he putteth himself upon
the Country                        Aron Alford in p.a psona

    And he who followeth for the Lord prop.ry Saith that he is Guilty
                                                            T francis p Lord prop.ry

    And now here afterwards to with the Day and year afd Comes the afd
Aron Alford in his proper person and Relinquishes the plan afd and
saith that he Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against him
brought nor Can he Say but that he is guilty of the premisses above
upon him Imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged & thereupon
Submitts to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices
