She Cannot Gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd against her Brought
nor Can She Say but that She is Guilty of y.e premisses above
upon her Imposed as by y.e afd Indictment it is alledged & thereupon Submits
to the Court.  Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at the
Court house in the Town of Chester in Kent County on the third Teusday of
June being the twentyeth Day of s.d Month Anno Dom. 1727 that the
s.d Martha Jarvis pay the Sume of thirty Shillings Current money of Maryl.d
as a fine for her afd offence of Committing fornication in form afd Confest
also that She pay the Sume of two hundred and forty Eight pounds of
Tobacco Costs Accrueing on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court

    Ordered by the Court here that the s.d Martha Jarvis prove the Begetter
of y.e Child in y.e Indictm.t afd Specified who proves on y.e holy Evangilist
of almighty God that William Blackiston Jun.r is the ffather of
the afd Child

    George Copper of Kent County County planter Comes into Court and
assumes ^to pay^ y.e fees in the Judgment afd Specified and thereupon y.e said
Martha Jarvis is therefrom Acquitted

s.d Hannah Ward to answer unto an Indictment found
against her for fornication the Sher of Kent County to
whome the s.d writt was Directed makes return thereof to
this Court here on the third Teusday of June being the 20.th Day of s.d Month
Anno Dom. 1727 the Day of Return of s.d writt Endorst as foll.s viz.t

    Kent County fs.t The Jurors for the Right Hon.ble the Lord prop.ry that now is for
the Body of Kent County afd upon their oaths Do present that Hannah
Ward late of Shrewsbury parish in the County afd Spinster the tenth Day
of August Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred twenty & Six at the parish afd
in the County afd                afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court Did
Commit fornication with a Certain person to the Jurors afd unknown and
Did permit the Same unknown person then and there to have Carnal
knowledge of her Body and to beget then and there a Bastard Child on the
Body of her y.e Same Hannah to the high Displeasure of almighty
God to the Evill Example of all others in Such Case offending Contrary to
the peace of the s.d Lord prop.ry that now is his good Rule and Government
and against the form of the Act of Assembly in that Case made & provided
