Court 1723 And the afd Mary in her proper person Comes and says that She cannot gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd against her brought nor can She say but that she ^is^ guilty of the premises above upon her Imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alleadged and thereupon Submits to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here this Seventeenth day of ^March Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred & twenty three^ that the afd Mary Slayfoot pay the sume of Six hundred pounds of Tobacco as a fine for the afd Crime of Committing fornication in form afd Confest to be applyed for the use of this County according to act of assembly &c.a as also the sume of two hundred and fifty two pounds of Tobacco Costs accrueing on the premises afd to the officers of this Court Jams Smith Clk. The afd Mary being Ordered to prove the begetter of her Child Declare on her oath administerd to her on the holy Evangelists that Rice Jones of Kent County planter is the father of her last base born Child wich She was Delivered of Ordered that Mary Slayfoot afd give Security for the fine & fees above Specified Thereupon Mary Rickar of Kent County Widdow Comes into Court and says that She will pay the fine and Costs in the Judgment above Specified and thereupon the same Mary ^Slayfoot^ is therefrom Discharged
hundred and twenty two with force and armes &c.a at the parish afd in the County afd and within the Jurisdiction of this Court one Cow of the price of forty Shillings Current money of Maryland of the goods and Chattels of a Certain person to the Jurors afd unknown then and there being found then and there feloniously did steal take the said Lord prop.ry that now is his Good rule and Dignity and against the form |
