CHAPTER 15.

An act to authorise the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more to alter the width of a part of Canal, formerly liar-
ford street, of a part of Spring slreet, of a part of Straw-
berry alley, and to close Russet lane.

CHAP. 15.

Passed Jan. 24, 1833

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore
at their present, or next annual session, he, and they are
hereby authorised to alter, by ordinance, the width of that
part of Canal, formerly Harford street, in the City of Bal-
timore, north of Orleans street, and between Orleans and
Jefferson streets, from one hundred feet, its present width,
to seventy feet,so as to make the width of said part of said
street, correspond with the width of Canal, formerly Har-
ford street, north of Jefferson street; provided, that the
west side of said street continue as it now is.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Mayor and
City Council at their present, or next annual session, be,
and are hereby authorised to close by ordinance, Russel
lane in the city of Baltimore, which runs from the east

side of Harford street to the west side of Eden street;
provided, the owners of property adjoining Russel lane
shall first consent to have it closed.

Proviso

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said Mayor and
City Council, at their present or next annual scss'ion, be,
and are hereby authorised to provide by ordinance for in-
creasing the width of that part of Spring street in the said
city, north of Orleans street, and between Orleans and Jef-
ler'son streets, by adding ten feet to the west, and ten feet
to the east side of said part of Spring street, and thereby
making the said part of Spring street forty feet wide, in-
stead of twenty, its present width.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the said Mayor and
City Council, at their present or next annual session, be
and are hereby authorised to provide by ordinance for in-
creasing the width of that part of Strawberry alley in the
said city, north of Orleans street, and between Orleans and
Jefferson streets, by adding ten feet to the east side and
ten feet to the west side of said part of Strawberry alley,
and thereby making the said part of Strawberry alley forty
feet wide, instead of twenty, its present width.

formerly Harford street, Spring street and Strawberry al-
ley, or any or either of them, when altered as aforesaid,
