low the Judges and Clerks of elections, in and for all that
part of Baltimore not within the limits of the city of
Baltimore, any sum not exceeding the same compensation
as allowed before the passage of the act of December ses-
sion, eighteen hundred and twenty-seven, chapter eighty-
three.

CHAP. 68,

CHAPTER 67.


An act authorising the Moderator and Commissioners of
Hagerstown, to levy on the assessable property of said
town, a sum of money for the purpose therein named.

Passed Feb. 10, 1833

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Moderator and Commissioners of Hagerstown,
in Washingtown county, are hereby empowered to levy
and assess upon the taxable property of said town, a sum
not exceeding one thousand dollars, to be levied in two
equal annual levies, for the purpose of erecting a town
clock in the aforesaid town.

Levy authorised.

CHAPTER 68.


An act to alter and change the name of Samuel Raitt Creigh-
ton, of Dorchester county.

Passed Feb.19,1833

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the name of Samuel Raitt Creighton, of
Dorchester county, be and the same is hereby altered and
changed to Samuel Raitt Keene; and it shall and may be
lawful for the said Samuel Raitt Creighton, at all times
hereafter, to be called and known by, and hold and use
the name of, Samuel Raitt Keene, and by the name of
Samuel Raitt Keene to purchase, sell, convey, or devise,
to sue and be sued, in any court of law or equity.

Name changed.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That all securities, pro-
mises, contracts, assurances, deeds, and lawful acts what-
soever, hereafter to be made or done by, or to the said
Samuel Raitt Creighton, by the name of Samuel Raitt
Keene, shall be of the same force and effect, and equally
available, to all intents and purposes, as if the name of
Samuel Raitt Keene had been his true and proper name.
