CHAPTER 37.

Passed Feb.7, 1833

An act for the benefit of Thomas S. Carter, late Sheriff of
Caroline County.

Authority to col-

lect

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Thomas S. Carter, late Sheriff of Caroline
county, be, and he is hereby authorized to collect until the
first day of March, eighteen hundred and thirty-four, all
fines, forfeitures, amerciarnents, officers fees, and public
dues, which were placed in his hands for collection, during
the time he was in office, and which have not been collec-
ted, in the same manner as he could or might have done
within the time limited by law.

Accounts first to be

served

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Thomas S.
Carter, before he proceeds to execute the body or property
of any person or persons for fines, forfeitures, amerciaments,
officers fees, or public dues, by the authority of this act,
shall deliver, or cause to be delivered, to such person or
persons, chargeable with the same, at least thirty days pre-
vious to serving or levying such execution, a specific ac-
count of the sum demanded of him, her, or them, with an
affidavit annexed thereto, that he hath not, nor hath any
person or persons, acting under him, whilst Sheriff, nor
since, received any part thereof, or satisfaction for the same,
to the best of his knowledge and belief.


CHAPTER 38.

An act for the relief oj William C. Weatherby, of Baltimore
county.


WHEREAS, It has been represented, and appears to this
Legislature, that Charles S. Davis and William C. Wea-
therby, were sureties for Robert H. Scharf, a Collector of
Taxes for the City and County of Baltimore, and in conse-
quence of said suretyship the said Davis and Weatherby
have become liable for the payment of large sums of money
to the State of Maryland, and to the Commissioners for Bal-
timore county; AND WHEREAS, it also appears that the said
Davis and Weatherby are insolvent and unable to pay said
moneys; AND WHEREAS ALSO, by a certain resolution pass-
ed by the General Assembly of Maryland, at its last session,
the said Davis was released, and finally discharged from his
