the said Ann Tompkins and William Tompkins be, and
they are hereby divorced from bed, board, and mutual co-
habitation; and said Ann Tompkins shall, to every effect,
as if she were a feme sole, and had never been married, be
capable, in law and equity to take, hold, and dispose of

any properly, and make and be bound by any contracts or
engagements; Provided, however, that she be not authoriz-
ed hereby to contract marriage during the life of said Wil-
liam; and said Ann is hereby declared to be entitled to the
custody and guardianship of her child by her said mar-
riage with said William.

An act, entitled an act for the division of Baltimore and
Frederick counties, and for erecting a new one by the name
of Corroll.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, a considerable body of the inhabitants of
Baltimore and Frederick counties, by their petition to this
General Assembly have prayed, that an act may be passed
for a division of said Counties, and for erecting a new one
outofparts thereof; and whereas it appears to this general as-
sembly, that the erecting of a new county, out of such parts
of Frederick and Baltimore counties, will conduce greatly to

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That after the confirmation of this act, such
parts of the aforesaid counties of Baltimore and Frederick,

as are contained within the bounds and limits following,
to wit: beginning at Parr's Spring, at the head of the wes-
tern branch of the Patapsco river, and running with the
present bed of the said branch, binding on Anne-Arundel
county, to the north branch of said river, and from thence
running up with the said north branch of said river, but ex-
cluding the same, until it reaches the stone bridge where
the Baltimore and Reisterstown Turnpike road, crosses
said branch of said river,generally known as the Falls bridge
and .thence running north, seventeen degrees east, parallel
with he last line, dividing Baltimore and Frederick coun-
ties, to the Pennsylvania line, thence with and binding on
said state line, westwardly to Rock creek, one of the head
waters of the Monococy river; thence with said creek, until
the same is merged in said river, then with said river, but
