the life of the said John Sands.

An act to provide for the Inspection of Plaster Paris, in the
City of Baltimore.

Passed Mar. 22 , 1833

WHEREAS, It is of importance that Plaister Paris should
be of good quality, accurately weighed, and well coopered;

Preamble.

Therefore,
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Governor, by and with the advice and
consent of the Council, shall, after the passage of this act,
and before the first day of June next, and in every year
thereafter, appoint a person of integrity and good charac-
ter, as Inspector of Plaister Paris, in the city of Baltimore.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Inspector of
Plaister Paris, so appointed, before he enters upon the ex-
ecution of the duties of his office, shall make the following
oath or affirmation, before some Justice of the Peace: "I do
solemnly swear (or affirm as the case may be) that I will
faithfully, truly, and impartially execute the duties imposed
upon me by law, as Inspector of Plaister Paris, to the best
of my judgment and understanding, and that I will not buy,
trade, or barter, or be concerned, directly or indirectly, in
buying, trading, or bartering, for any Plaister Paris, in the
city of Baltimore, whilst an Inspector of the same, so help

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of said
Inspector, whenever required to do so, to inspect all Plais-
ter, in lump or stone, that shall be brought to the city of
Baltimore.

His duty

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of
every Inspector, appointed in virtue of this act, when re-
quired to do so, to attend to the weights of all such Plaister
Paris that shall be offered for sale in barrels, which barrels
shall be of the size of the common flour barrel, well cooper-
ed, and shall not contain less than three hundred and twen-
ty pounds, nett weight.
