CHAP. 277.

for such purpose; Provided always, that in case any deten-
tion, damage or injury, may be sustained by any vessel or
steam boat, so taken and employed by the sheriff, and his
posse, or in consequence thereof, the owner or owners
thereof shall be entitled to receive from the state, full in-
demnity for the same, and also .compensation and indem-
nity for the use of, and detention of such vessel or steam-
boat.

Repeal.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That any tiling contained in
the act to which this is a supplement, inconsistent with or
repugnant to the provisions of this act, be and the same is
hereby repealed.


CHAPTER 277.

Passed Mar. 22,1833

An act to incorporate a company to make so much of the
north western road, as may pass through Allegany
county.

pen books

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That Alexander Smith, Frederick A. Castings,
Jonathan W. Magruder, George Rinehart, John Hove and
John McHenry, be, and they are hereby appointed com-
missioners, who shall cause books to be opened at such
time and places, as they may deem most advisable, for
the purpose of receiving subscriptions to the capital stock,
of the company to be incorporated by the provisions of
