surers being responsible for the official acts of the said de-
puties, and the said inspectors or their deputies, before

or affirmation, as the case may be, before the Mayor, tint
they will faithfully execute the duties of their office, agree-
ably to the provisions of this act, and according to the best
of their knowledge and ability

Sec 2 And be it enacted, That the Mayor be, and he
is hereby authorised to designate stands for the inspection
and measurement of time, and to establish such and so
many, as in his judgment the public convenience may re
quire, and the said inspectors and their deputies shall
change their stand alternately, on the Monday of each
week.

the city, for sale, or intended to be used therein, shall be
taken to one of the stands designated by the Mayor, and
there submitted for inspection when required, on the same
day, on which it is to be sold, to be inspected and measur
ed by the person appointed as aforesaid, who shall mea-
sure and inspect the same in the waggon, car, cart, or oth-
er carriage, in which it is brought agreeably to the stand-
