CHAPTER 267.
An art for the relief of James B. Dixon, former Sheriff of
Calvert County.

CHAP. 268.

Passed Mar. 20,1833

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That James B. Dixon, former Sheriff of Calvert
county, be, and he is hereby authorized to collect until the
first day of January, eighteen hundred and thirty-four, and
fines, forfeitures, amerciaments, officers' fees, or public
dues, which were placed in his hands for collection, am
all legal fees made by him while Sheriff, or that he was
entitled to by virtue of said office of Sheriff, and which
have not been collected, in the same manner as he could
or might have done, within the time limited by law.

lect fees &c.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said James B. Dixon
before he proceeds to execute the body or property of any
person or persons, for fees, forfeitures, amerciaments, offi-
cers' fees, or public dues, by the authority of this act, shall
deliver or cause to be delivered, to such person or person
chargeable with the same, or left at their houses at leas
thirty days previous to serving or levying such execution
an account of the sum demanded of him, her, or them
which shall contain tlie specific items charged, with an

affidavit annexed thereto, that he hath not, nor hath any
other person or persons acting under him, whilst sheriff
nor since received any part thereof, or satisfaction for the
same, to the best of his knowledge and belief; Provided

Oath

that if any person, against whom there is a claim by said
Dixon, aforesaid, shall make affidavit before any justice of
the peace of said county, that he or she believes the same
to be unjust, or that the same had been paid at any previous
time, it shall forever bar such claim; and provided, that
nothing in this act shall be construed to affect the estat
of any deceased person.
