An act to Incorporate the Savings Institution of Somerset
and Worcester bounties, at Salisbury.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That John Parsons, Elijah Parsons, Geo. Todd,
John Austin, M. D., James Slewart, M. D., Joseph S.
Cottman, Peter Bell, Benjamin Parsons, Benjamin I. Da-
shiell, Cathel Humphreys, Humphrey Humphreys, Purnel
Toadvine, Henry Byrd, William B. Bell, George Maddux,
Robert Dashiell, William Freney, Noah Tilghman, George
Parsons of Jordan, James Minus Fookes, Jonathan Par-
sons, Samuel J. K. Handy, George Handy, Henry K.Long,
Noah Rider, Charles Rider, Jabez Travers, Caleb Kenne-
dy, Samuel Williams of Samuel, John Williams of Samuel,
John .Mitchell, William Livingston, Purnel Johnson, John
S. Crockett, James Powell, Charles Parker, John S. Mar-
tin, M. D., Robert R. M. Smith, John T. Taylor, William
Milby, James H. Milbourne, Edwin Forman, Ebenezer
Hearn, each, all, and every other person or persons here-
after becoming members of the Institution hereby incor-
porated in the manner hereafter mentioned, shall be and

are hereafter created and made a corporation, by the name
and style of The Savings Institution of Somerset and
Worcester counties, at Salisbury, and by that name shall
have succession, and be capable by law to hold and dis-

pose of property, sue and be sued, implead and be im-
pleaded, answer and defend and be answered and defend-
ed, in courts of law and equity, or in any place whatever,
and to receive and make all deeds, transfers, contracts,
covenants, conveyances, and grants whatever, and to make,
have, and use a common seal, and the same to change and
renew at pleasure, and to do every other act or thing ne-
cessary to carry into effect the provisions of this act, and
to promote the object and design of said corporation.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That there shall be a meet-
ing of the members of the said Institution, on such day in
the month of April next, or at such other time as the mem-
bers may think proper, within the space of two years, or at
such place as the first seven named persons in this act, or
a majority of them, shall appoint, and give at least ten days
notice of such meeting in the newspapers printed in Prin-

cess Ann and Snow Hill, and on such day and such place,
annually thereafter, as the by-laws of the Institution shall
provide, for the purpose of choosing, from among the mem-
