1832.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That the concerns of the in-
stitution hereby intended to be incorporated, shall be all
times subject to the inspection of the Treasurer of the
Western Shore, or of such other officer or agent of the
state as may be selected for that purpose, by either branch
of the Legislature.

Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That this act shall be, and
continue in force until the year eighteen hundred and forty-
five, and until the end of the first session of the General
Assembly, that shall happen thereafter.

An act to provide for the purchase of land, and the erection
thereon of an Alms House in Allegany county.

Passed Mar.16,1833

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly,
by the petition of sundry citizens of Allegany county, that
there is no house for the reception of the poor within said
county, and that they are satisfied that the comfort and ac-
commodation of such persons would be greatly subserved
and promoted, as well as that the taxable inhabitants of
said county, would be relieved from much unnecessary and
onerous taxation, by the establishment in said county, for
the reception and accommodation of all persons therein
disabled by age, decrepitude or otherwise, from procuring
the means of support — Therefore,

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the commissioners of Allegany county,
be hereby authorized and required to purchase two hun-
dred acres of land, more or less, as they may deem fit,

of erecting a building thereon, for the reception and ac-
commodation of the poor of the said county, and they
