CHAP. 204.

An act for the benefit of Hester Anthony.

Passed Mar. 11, 1833

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly
that a certain Robert Anthony, a colored man, of Frederick
county, has departed this life, leaving a reputed and ac-
knowledged wife, Hester Anthony, a woman of respectable
character, and having a small personal estate, and a small
house and lot in said county; and whereas, in consequence
of said Hester not being able to furnish leg;il proof of her

personal and real estate; and whereas, it is further repre-
sented that said deceased has left no heirs, and the State
may therefore be entitled to said real estate, and also to
said personal estate, for the benefit of the schools or
academies of said Frederick county; and whereas, it is
reasonable that the said personal estate, and the real estate
of said Robert Anthony, should be secured to said Hester,
so far as the State may have any right or interest or claim
thereto or therein; — Therefore,

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the State of Maryland does hereby release and re-
nounce to and in favor of said Hester Anthony, all the
right, title, claim, interest, and estate, of said State, to and
in the estate, real and personal, whereof the said Robert
died seized or possessed, and all claim and demand, right
and interest, which the schools and academies, or any of
them, of Frederick county, have to or in said personal es-
tate, or which might in any wise be made, prosecuted, or
enforced, for or in behalf of such schools or academies,
or for their benefit.

CHAPTER 205.


An act for the relief of John C. Helmkin, of the City oj Bal-
timore.

Passed Mar.1 5, 1833

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the marriage of John C. Helmkin, of the City of Bal-
timore, and Eliza Helmkin, be, and the same is hereby an-
nulled; and the said John C. Helmkin and Eliza Helmkin
are hereby declared to be divorced a vinculo matrimonii.
