JAMES THOMAS, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

1832.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the board of Trustees
shall consist of not less than seven, nor more than thir-
teen, of whom five shall be a quorum, for the transaction of
business, and the President of the said college, shall be

ex officio, the President of the said board; it shall be their
duty to hold a meeting on the last Wednesday in July, an-
nually, and to meet at such other times, as by their by-laws,

to be passed at such annual meeting, they shall determine;
at which meetings, it shall be competent for the said board
to devise and recommend to the Faculty of the College,
such plans for the governing, improvement and well order-
ing of the students, and for the general advancement of
the cause of education in the said college, as they may
think conducive to the best interests thereof; and they shall
have the power of increasing their number, by election, at
such annual meeting, to thirteen, and in like manner, of
supplying all vacancies in their number, that may happen
by death, resignation or otherwise; also, of appointing a

Secretary, who shall record their proceedings at all their
regular meetings, and a Treasurer who shall be charged
with the safe keeping and appropriation, under the direc-
tion of the said board, of all sums of money, or other ef-
fects which shall come to the said corporation, by donation
or otherwise.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the Faculty of the said
College, shall consist of the President thereof, and such
professors, tutors and other instructors, as he may with the
advice and approbation of the board of trustees appoint;

and it shall be the duty of the President to make a written
report annually to the board of trustees, at their stated
meeting, setting forth the condition and proceedings of the
said college, for the preceding year, and exhibiting, to-
gether with a list of the students, a general- view of their
proficiency in their studies; it shall be the duty of the said

Faculty to devise and establish a proper course of studies
for the pupils under their charge, to maintain among them,

by a just and well regulated discipline, order and good
government; and by all suitable means, to fix and mature
in their minds the principles of virtue, and in their con-
duct, the habits of industry and temperance.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the buildings now used
for the accommodation of the Mount Hope Seminary, may
with the consent of Frederick Hall, their proprietor, be
