clause of this act; and said professors, from time to time
constituted or existing, or a majority of them, shall be and
are hereby declared to be competent to exercise all the
powers and authorities hereby granted to this corpora-
tion.

Annual meeting of
professors
|
Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That the said professors and
their successors shall meet at least once a year in stated
annual meetings, to be appointed by their own ordinances,
and at such other limes as by their said ordinances they
may direct, in order to examine into all matters touching
the discipline of the institution, and the good and whole-
some execution of their ordinances; and the said profes-
sors, when duly assembled, shall hare full power and au-
thority to make their own rules of proceeding, and to make
fundamental ordinances for the government and disci-

pline of the said College; in all which meetings a majority
of the whole number of professors shall be a quorum, to
do any business, except to vacate the seat of a professor or
lecturer, for which purpose, the consent of five-sixths of
the whole number of professors shall be necessary.

Powers of removing
|
Sec. 9. And be it enacted, That the said professors or
five sixths of their whole number shall have power when-
ever in their judgment they may discover sufficient cause,
to remove any President, Professor or Lecturer of the said
college, and in cases of disability by casualty or superannu-
ation of a Professor or Lecturer, a majority of the said Pro-
fessors shall choose an adjunct professor, whose compensa-
tion shall in no case exceed one half of the proceeds of

the professorship so affected; and in case of the death or
removal of such disabled professor, the powers of the ad-
junct shall cease, and the professors in being or a majority
of them shall proceed to fill the vacancy.

Term for lectures
|
Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of
the said professors and their successors to hold one term in
every year for the period of four months each session, for
the purpose of delivering lectures and instructions on the
various branches of medical science, attached to their sev-
eral professorships, during which period also the various
lecturers appointed for other branches of science, shall de-
liver their respective courses; provided however, that lec-
tures on botany need not be delivered except during the
seasons best calculated in the opinion of said professors, or
of a majority of them, for affording a knowledge of that

|
Sec. 11. And be it enacted, That there be appointed a
board of visitors to consist of twenty four members, and
