CHAP. 123,

An act to alter and change a part of the Divisional Line
between Dorchester and Caroline Counties.

Passed Mar 2. 1833

WHEREAS, It is represented to this General Assembly,
by the petition of sundry citizens of Dorchester and Caro-
line counties, that the public convenience will be promo-
ted, and individual interest subserved, by the alteration of
a part of the Divisional Line between said counties, as set
forth in said petitions — Therefore,

Preamble,

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Jacob Charles, Francis P. Phelps and Na-
than Corkran, be, and they are hereby, appointed Commis-
sioners, and they, or a majority of them, are hereby author-

ized to change and alter so much of the public Road which
now divides the Counties of Dorchester and Caroline, as is
necessary to accomplish the wishes and intentions of the
parties interested, as set forth and discribed in two plats
and certificates, by Nathan Corkran, surveyor, one dated
January the twelfth, one thousand eight hundred and thir-
ty-three, and the other dated January the twenty-fourth day,
one thousand eight hundred and thirty-three; or in such
other convenient manner as shall best suit the public con-
venience, and subserve the interests of the individuals con-
cerned; and it shall be the duty of the said Commissioners,
or a majority of them, to cause so much of the old Road
and Divisional Line aforesaid, as may be necessary, to be
laid down by the surveyor of one of the counties aforesaid,
or such other person as they, or a majority of them, may
believe competent to do so, or the said Commissioners

tioned, if they, or a majority of them, may see proper so to
do, shewing in what manner the alteration is made, and to
return a plat thereof, with the surveyor's certificate thereon,
to the Levy Courts of Dorchester and Caroline counties;
and if the Levy Courts aforesaid, shall approve of the al-

terations made and certified as aforesaid, the same shall be
recorded by the clerks of the respective county courts of
Dorchester and Caroline, and thence forward, the said new
Road and Divisional Line shall be held and considered as
a part of the public Road and Divisional Line between the
said counties of Dorchester and Caroline, and shall be kept
in repair in the same manner as the public Road and Divis-
ional Line has been, and now is kept in repair.
