                June Court                   1761                      89
our Lord God one thousand Seven hundred and Sixty One Before Isaac Handy Esqr. and his Associates the Said Lord Propry
his Justices of the Same County Court and for the Same Lord Propry doth Give the Same Justices here to understand and
be informed that Wm. Geddes Late of Somerset Parish in the County afd. Gent on the Tenth day of Aprill in the Year afd.
with force and Arms at the Parish afd. in the County afd. in and upon a Certain Arnold Horner in the peace of God &
the Said Lord Propry then and there being an Assault did Make and him the Said Arnold then and there did beat
Wound and ill treat so that of his Life it was Much dispaired and other Wrongs to the Said Arnold and Against
the peace of the Said Lord Propry his good Rule and Government And Whereupon the Same Attorney of the
Same Lord Propry for the Same Lord Propry Prays Advice of the Court here in the Premisses and that due process
of Law may in this part be made Against the Said Wm. to Answer of and upon the premisses and So forth
      Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should Take the Said William
Geddes if &c. to Answer &c.    And now to witt at a Court of his Lordship held at Princes Ann Town the third Tuesday
of June and Year afd. before the Justices thereof Came the afd. William Geddes in his Proper person According to
a Certain Recognizance by him and his Security in that part before Acknowledged and had a hearing of the Information
afd. Siath that he Cannot deny but will not Contend with his Lordship but for the Saveing Costs Labour and
Expences about the Premisses Submit himself at fine with his Said Lordship and put himself upon favour of
the Court       Whereupon all and Singular the premisses being Seen and by the Court fully understood it is Considered
by the Court here that the afd. William Geddes for the Premisses and Offence afd. in the Information afd. Above
Specified be taken which Said William Geddes present here in Court as afd. is fined for the Premisses and Offence
afd. the Sum of five Shillings Curt Money which he paid here in Court to the Sheriff for the use of his Lordship &c

LD    Sampson Wheatly

@    Command was Given to the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should take
WH    Saml. Horsey    Samuel Horsey Late of Somerset County Planter Otherwise Called I Samuel Horsey of Somt.
County and Province of Maryland if he Should be found in his Bailywick and him Should Safe keep so that he
Might have his body before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held at Princes Ann
Town the third Tuesday of March Anno Dom. one thousand Seven hundred and Sixty One to Answer unto
Sampson Wheatly of A plea that he Render him Eighteen pounds Six Shillings and Nine pence Curt Lawfull
Money of Maryland which to him he Owes and unjustly detains and So forth and the Same day is Given
to the afd. Sampson here &c
                And hereupon the Said Sampson Wheatly declared Against the afd. Samuel Horsey
in the Plea afd. in form following       Somerset County to wit Samuel Horsey Late of Somerset County Planter Otherwise
Called I Samuel Horsey of Somerset County and Province of Maryland was Summoned to Answer unto Sampson Wheatly
of A plea that he Render him Eighteen pounds Six Shillings and Nine pence Curt Lawfull money of the Province of
Maryland which to him he Owes and unjustly Detains &c.    And Whereupon the Said Sampson Wheatly by Littleton Dennis
his Attorney Says that Whereas the Said Samuel the Eighteenth day of August Anno Dom. one thousand Seven hundred
and Sixty at the County by his Certain Writing Obligatory which the Said Sampson Sealed with the Seal of the Said
Samuel here in Court produces whose date is the day and Year afd. did Acknowledge himself to be held and firmly
bound unto the Said Sampson in the afd. Sum of Eighteen pounds Six Shillings and Nine pence Curt Money afd. to be
paid unto the Said Sampson when he the Said Samuel Should be thereto afterwards Required Nevertheless
the Said Samuel altho often Required the afd. Sum of Money to the Said Sampson he hath not Rendred but the
Same to him to Render hath denyed and Still doth deny and unjustly detain to the Damage of the Said Sampson
Twenty Pounds Curt Money and thereof he brings Suit &c.                  Pledges &c J. Doe & R. Roe
   A Copy of the foregoing Declaration was made and Sent to be Served on the deft. in order for Speedy tryall Att
which day here Came the afd. Sampson Wheatly by his Attorney afd. And the Sheriff to witt John Dennis Gent now
here Returned that he had taken the afd. Samuel Horsey whose body here at this day he had Ready to Answer
the afd. Sampson Wheatly of the afd. plea as to him it was Commanded And further the Same Sheriff Returned
that he had Served the afd. Samuel Horsey with a Copy of the foregoing declaration According to Act of Assembly in Such
