June Court 1761 87 Saith that he will not Contend with his Lordship but for the Saveing Costs Labour and Expences about the premisses Submits himself at fine with his Said Lordship and put himself upon favour of the Court &c Whereupon all and Singular the Premisses being Seen and by the Court fully understood it is Considered by the Court here that the afd. John Roberson for the Premisses and Offence afd. in the Indictment afd. Mentioned be taken &c. Which Said John Roberson present here in Court in his Proper person is fined for the Premisses and offence afd. ten Shillings Curt Money of Maryland which he paid here in Court to the Sheriff of the County for the use of his Lordship &c.
at the Parish afd. in the County afd. did Commit fornication with a Certain Charity Jones and a Bastard Child on the body of her the Said Charity then and there did beget to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the Evil Example of all Others in Such Case Offending Contrary to the Peace of the Right Honrble the Lord Propry that now is his Good Rule and Government And Against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such Case made and Provided and So forth Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriff of Somerset County that Immediately he Should Take the Said Robert Parsons if &c. to Answer &c And now to witt at a Court of his Lordship held at Princes Ann Town the third Tuesday of June Anno Dom. one thousand Seven hundred and Sixty One before the Justices thereof Came the afd. Robert Parsons in his Proper Person According to A Certain Recoge. by him and his Security in that part before Acknowledged and had a hearing of the Indictment afd. Saith that he Cannot deny but that he is Guilty of the Premisses in Manner and form as by the Indictment afd. Above upon him Imposed in Manner & form as by the Indictment afd. Above Against him Supposed and is Willing to pay his fine for the Same &c. Whereupon all and Singular the Premisses being Seen and by the Court fully understood it is Considered by the Court here that the afd. Robert Parsons for the Premisses and Offence afd. in the Indictment afd. Above Specified be taken which Said Robert Parsons present here in Court as afd. is fined the Sum of Thirty Shillings Curt Money of Maryland Which he paid here in Court to the Sheriff for the Use of the County &c Whereupon the Said Robert Parsons is Ordered to Give Security to Save and keep Indemnified the Justices of Somerset County Court and their Successors from all Costs troubles burthens and Charges that might Accrew by Means of the birth and Maintainance of the Child afd. Thereupon a Certain Thomas Humphris of Somerset County Planter Present here in Court in his Proper Person undertook for the Said Robert Parsons and Acknowledged Himself Indebted unto his Lordship the Right Honrble the Lord Propry in thirty Pounds Curt Money of Maryland of his body Goods or Chattles Lands or tenements to be made and Levied to the use of the Inhabitants of Somerset County for the time being Admrs. or Any or Either of them do not from time to time and at all times hereafter Acquit Discharge and Save harmless as well the Justices of Somerset County Court for the time being as also the Inhabitants of Said County of and from all Costs Charges and troubles Whatsoever for or by Reason of the birth Maintainance Nourishing and bringing up of the Said Child and of and from all other Suits troubles and Demands whatsoever touching or Concerning of the Same &c
in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty One Before Isaac Handy Esqr and others his Associates the Said Lord Propry his Justices of the Same Court and for the Same Lord Propry doth Give the Same Justices here to understand & be Informed that Milcah Ackworth Late of Stepney Parish in the Said County of Somerset Spinster the third day of May in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty at the Parish afd. in the County afd. did Commit Fornication with a Certain person unknown and did permit the Same unknown person to have Carnal Knowledge of her body and a bastard Child on the body of her the Said Milcah then and there to beget to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the Evill Example of all Others in Such Case Offending Contrary to the Peace of the Said Lord Propry that |
