The Same
@    Somerset to wit Be it Remembred that William Hayward Gent. Attorney of the Right Honrble
Margt. Dunkin    the Lord Propry that now is for the Same Lord Propry in this part prosecuteth doth Come here into
the County Court of the Same Lord Propry held for Somerset County to wit at Princes Ann Town in the Same County
the Seventeenth Day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred Sixty and one before Isaac Handy
Esqr. and Others his Associates the Said Lord Propry his Justices of the Same Court and for the Same Lord Propry doth
give the Same Justices here to understand and be informed that Margaret Dunkin Late of Stepney Parish in the
Said County of Somerset Spinster the Eighth day of March in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred &
Sixty at the parish afd. in the County afd. did Commit Fornication with a Certain person unknown and did permit
the Same unknown person to have Carnal Knowledge of her body and a Bastard Child on the body of her the
Said Margaret then and there to beget to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the Evil Example of all others
in Such Case Offending Contrary to the peace of the Said Lord Propry that now is his good Rule and Government &
Against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such Case made and provided and So forth And Whereupon the
Same Attorney of the Same Lord Propry for the Said Lord Propry prays Advice of the Court here in the premisses &
that due process of Law may in this part be made Against the Said Margaret to Answer of and upon the
premisses and So forth
   Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should Take the Said Margaret
Dunkin if &c to Answer &c.       And now to witt at a Court of his Lordship held at Princes Ann Town in &
for the County afd. the third Tuesday of March Anno Dom. 1761 before the Justices thereof Came the afd. Margaret
Dunkin in her proper person According to A Certain Recognizance by her and her Security in that part before
Acknowledged and had a hearing of the Information afd. Saith that She Cannot deny but that She is Guilty of the
premisses in the Information afd. Above upon her Imposed in Manner and form as by the Information afd. Above
Against her Supposed and maketh Oath that a Certain John Furlong is the father of the Child She Stands Informed
Against And is willing to pay her fine for the Same &c.
        Whereupon all and Singular the premisses being Seen and by the Court fully understood it is Considered by
the Court here that the afd. Margaret Dunkin for the premisses and Offence afd. in the Information afd. Above Specified
be taken &c. Which Said Margaret Dunkin present here in Court as afd. is fined for the premisses and Offence afd.
the Sum of thirty Shillings Curt Money which She paid to the Sheriff to the use of the County &c.

The Same
@    Somerset fst The Jurors for his Lordship the Right Honrble the Lord Propry that now is for the body of Somerset
Keturah Jones    County upon their Oath present that Keturah Jones Late of Coventry Parish in the County afd. Spinster
did Commit Fornication with a Certain Negro Slave to the Jurors unknown and did permit the Same unknown Slave
then and there to have Carnal Knowledge and to beget then and there a Bastard Child on the body of her the Said
Keturah to the high Displeasure of Almighty God to the Evill Example of all Others in Such Case Offending Contrary
to the peace of the Said Lord Propry that now is his good Rule and Government And Against the form of the Act of
Assembly in Such Case made and Provided &c.
                                                                                                     Immediately
         Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriff of Somerset County that ^ he Should Take Keturah Jones if She
Should be found in his Bailywick and her Should Safe keep so that he might have her body before the Justices of
his Lordships County Court of Somerset now Sitting at princes Ann Town this Instant March to Answer unto
his Said Lordship of and Concerning the Indictment afd. &c
        And Afterwards in the Same Court Came the afd. Keturah Jones in her proper person and had a hearing of the
Indictment afd. Saith that She Cannot deny but that She is Guilty of the premisses in the Indictment afd. mentioned
Above upon her Imposed in Manner and form as by the Information afd. Above Against her Supposed and maketh Oath
that Negro Mingo the Slave of A Certain Zakeriah Harris is the father of the Child She Stands Indicted for &c.
Whereupon all and Singular the premisses being Seen and by the Court fully understood it is Considered by the Court
here that for as much as there is due to the County of Somerset Seven Years Service from Such persons that is
Guilty of Inordinate Copulation as afd., And Likewise Such Issue begot by Such Copulation become a Servant untill
it Arrive at the Age of thirty One Years According to Act of Assembly in Such Case provided, that the afd. Keturah
