              November Court       1760               59
   County afd. Planter on the fourteenth day of July in the Year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and Sixty at ye. Parish afd. in the County afd. with force and Arms in and
upon a Certain Elgate Bird in ye. Peace of God and ye. said Lord Propry then and there
being an Assault did make and him the said Elgat then and there did Beat
wound and Evilly treat so that of his Life it was greatly Dispaired and other Harms
to him the said Elgat then and there did to ye great Damage of ye said Elgat and
the Peace of ye. Right Honrble ye. Lord Propry that now is his good rule and government
& so forth
Thereupon it was Commanded the sherriffe of Somerset County that Immediately
he should take the said William Caldwell if &c. to answer &c.
And afterwards in the same Court Came the afd. William Caldwell in his proper person
& had a hearing of ye. Indictment afd. Saith that he will not Contend with his said
Lordship but for ye. saveing Costs Labour and Expences About the Premisses
submits himself at fine with his said Lordship by Occasion of ye. Premisses
and puts himself upon favour of with ye. Court
Whereupon all and singular ye. Premisses being seen and by ye. Court here fully under:
:stood it is Considered by ye Court here that the afd. William Caldwell for ye Premisses
and offence afd. in ye. Indictment afd. above specified be taken &c.
Which said William Caldwell present here in Court as afd. is fined for ye Premisses and offence
afd. the sum of two shillings and six pence Current money of Maryland which he
paid here in Court to ye. Sherriffe of ye. County afd. for ye. use of his said Lordship &c.

John Jones    Propry that is now for ye. Body of Somerset County afd. on their Oath Present
that John Jones late of ye. Parish of Somerset in ye. County afd. Planter on ye XXI day of Augt.
Anno Dom. MDCCLX at ye. Parish afd. in ye. County afd. with force and Arms in and
upon a Certain Southey Wheeler in ye Peace of God & ye. said Lord Propry then and there
Being an Assault did make and him ye. said Southey then and there did beat wound
and Evilly Treat so that of his Life it was much Dispaired and other harms to him
the said Southey then and there did to ye. Great Damage of him ye said Southey &
against ye. Peace of his Lordship ye. Right Honrble ye. Lord Propry that now is his good
Rule and Government &c.
On the Back of ye. foregoing Bill of Indt it was thus Indorsed Vizt
Testis Southey Wheeler                                      No true Bill
