His Lordship    Somerset to wit Be it Remembred that William Hayward gent.
vs    Attorney of the Right Honble the Lord Propry that now is who for the
Elizabeth Mattux    Same Lord Propry in this Part Prosecuteth doth Come here into Court
the County Court of the Same Lord Propry held for Somerset County to wit Princes
Ann Town in the Same County ye. Eighteenth day of November in the Year of
Our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Sixty Before Isaac handy Esqr.
And others his Associates the said Lord Propry his Justices of the same County Court
and for the same Lord Propry doth give the same Justices here to understand and
be Informed that Elizabeth Mattux Late of Stepney Parish in the said County
of Somerset spinster the thirteenth day of January In the Year of our Lord one
Thousand Siven hundred and Sixty at ye. Parish afd. in the County afd. did
Commit Fornication with a Certain Person Unknown and did Permit
The same Unknown Person to have Carnal Knowledge of her Body and a
Bastard Child on ye. Body of her the said Elizabeth then and there to Begit
to the High Displeasure of Almighty God to the Evill Example of All
Others in such Case offending Contrary to ye. Peace of the ssaid Lord Propry
that now is his good Rule and government and against ye. form of the Act
of Assembly in Such Case made and Provided and so forth, And
Whereupon the Same Attorney of the Same Lord Propry for ye.
Said Lord Propry prays advice of the Court here in the Premisses and
that due Process of Law may in this Part be made against ye. said
Elizabeth to answer of and upon ye. Premisses and so forth
Thereupon it was Commanded ye sherriffe of Somerset County that he should take
ye. said Elizabeth Mattux if &c. to answer &c.
And now to wit at a Court of his Lordhsip held at Princes Ann Town the third Tuesday
of November Anno Dom. one thousand seven hundred and Sixty before ye. Justices there:
:of Came the aforesaid Elizabeth Mattux in her proper person According to A Certain Recoge.
by her and her Sery in that part before acknowledged and had a hearing of ye. Inform:
:aton aforesaid Saith that She Cannot deny but that She is guilty of the Premisses
In the Information afd. above upon her Imposed in manner and form as by ye. Inform:
:ation afd. above against her Supposed & maketh Oath that Young Bailey McGlough:
:lin is ye. father of ye. Child she stands informed against and is willing to pay her
fine for ye. same &c. Whereupon all and singular ye. Premisses being and by ye.
Court here fully understood it is Considered by ye. Court here that ye. afd. Elizabeth Mattux
for ye. Premisses & offence afd. in ye. Information afd. above specified be taken &c which
said Elizabeth Mattux present here in Court as afd. is fined for ye. Premisses & offence
afd. Thirty Shillings Current money of Maryland which She paid here in Court to
ye. use of ye. County afd.       Whereupon A Certain Francis Lank Present here in
Court in his Proper person undertook for ye. said Elizabeth Mattux to pay ye. severall
officers their fees due by means of ye. Prosecution afd. and so forth
