         August Court                    1760                    33
Things as a good and faithfull Apprentice he Shall Demean himself towards his said
Master and all his during the term afd.    In Consideration of which Service the said
Elijah Pilshard present here in Court in his proper person Covenanteth with ye Justices
        Same
of the ^ Court in Court Judicially Setting in manner & form following that is to Say that
he the said Elijah Pilshard Shall & will during the term afd. Learn his said
Apprentice the trade of a house Carpinter and to read write and Cypher as far as ye
Rule of three Inclusive and at ye. Expiration of his Servitude give him a new Suit of
Cloaths of Kersey or Narrow Broad over and above his Common wearing Cloaths and a
Broad as, hand Saw, adz, and two Chizzels and likewise find & provide for his said
Apprentice meat drink washing Loding and Cloathing Sufficient for Such An
Apprentice to have and wear during ye. term afd.
Whereupon the said Elijah Pilshard is ordered to give Sury for to Comply with the
Covenants afd. Thereupon the said Elijah Pilshard together with William Gray &
William Benston of Somerset County Gentleman his Scrys all present here in Court
in their Proper persons Acknowledged themselves indebted unto ye. afd. John Taylor
in thirty Pounds Current Money of Maryland on their Bodies goods or Chattles Lands
And Tenements Joyntly & Severally to the use of the said John Taylor his heirs &
Assigns to be made & Levied if it happen that ye Said Elijah Pilshard do no during
the term afd. Learn his said Apprentice ye. Trade of a house Carpinter and to Read
Write & Cypher as far as ye Rule of three Inclusive and at ye. Expiration of his Servitude
do not give him a New Suit of Cloaths of Kersey or Narrow Broad Cloath over and
Above his Common wearing Cloaths and a Broad Az, hand Saw, adz, and two Chizzels, and
do not Likewise find & provide for his said Apprentice meat Drink washing Lodging &
Clothing sufficient for such an Apprentice to have & wear during ye. term afd. &c

William Stuart    William Stuart An Orphan is Bound out by ye. Court here an
Bound to    Apprentice According to Act of Assembly in Such Case made and Provided
John Williams    unto John Williams of Somerset County Shipcarpenter untill he ye. said
William Stuart should Arrive at ye. Age of Twenty one Years the said William Stuart to serve
his said Master ye. full term afd. during which term the said Apprentice his said Master
well and faithfully shall serve his Secrets keep his Commandments Lawfully and honestly
every where Willingly he Shall doe and in all things as a good and faithful Apprentice
he shall Demean himself towards his said Master all his during the term afd. In
Consideration of which service the said John Williams present here in Court in his
Proper person Covenanteth with ye. Justices of ye. Same Court in Court Judicially Setting
in manner & form following that is to Say that he ye. said John Williams Shall and
will during ye. term afd. Learn his Said Apprentice the trade of A Ship Carpinter
And to Read Write & Cypher as far as ye. Rule of three Inclusive & at ye. Experation of his
Servitude give him a Broad Ax, hand Saw, & Adz & a new Suit of Cloaths over & above
his Common wearing Cloaths and Likewise find & provide for his said Apprentice
meat drink washing Lodging & Cloathing sufficient for such an Apprentice to have and
wear during ye term afd.
