Somerset fst.    Whereas Samuel Carter is this day Charged before me ye. Subscriber
{Seal}    One of his Lordships Justices of ye. peace for Somerset County for Begetting
            A Basterd Child on ye. Body Ann Hardanight
These are therefore in his Lordships Name to Command you to take ye. Body of ye afd.
Samuel Carter and Cause him to Appear before me or Some other of his Lordships
Justices of ye. peace for ye. County afd. to answer ye. Charge afd. & this shall be Your
warrant given under my hand and Seal this first day of May anno Dom. 1759
                                                                              Ephrm. King
Whereupon George Brown Constable of ye. Hundred afd. afterwards
to wit, ye. first day of Aprill in ye. Year of our Lord Anno Dom. 1760 at ye. County afd. returned to
me that he had taken ye. Body of ye. afd. Samuel Carter & had him there ready to answer ye. Charge
afd. against him made Thereupon ye. said Samuel Carter being by me asked whether he of the
Charge afd. was guilty said that he Could not deny but that he was thereof guilty Thereupon
ye. said Samuell Carter for his offence afd. was by me fined thirty shillings Current
money of Maryland which he paid down to me for ye. use of Somerset County Whereupon
ye. said Samuell Carter was by me ordered to give Secry to keep ye. Justices of Somerset
County afd. Harmless from all Costs Trouble or Expence that they or their Successors Shall
or may be put to by means of ye. Birth and maintainance of ye. afd. Bastard Child
Thereupon ye. afd. Samuel Carter Together with a Certain Ezekiell Jones & Isaac Carter
his Secrys did Acknowledge themselves to owe and be indebted to unto his Lordship
&c. right Honrble ye. Lord propry in ye Sum of fifty pounds Current money as afd. of their
and Each of their Bodies goods & Chattles Lands & Tenements for ye. use of ye. said
Lord propry his Heirs and successors to be made & Levied in case ye. said Samuel
Carter do not from time to time and at all times hereafter Save harmless and keep
Indemnified ye. Justices of Somerset County from all Costs Trouble & Expence that
they or their Successors Shall or may be put to by means of ye. Birth & maintainance
of ye. afd. Bastard Child
   Taken in and acknowledged ye 10th. Day of may in ye. year afd.

Somrsst. You Thos. Relph John Paramore and Richard Waller do Confess Judgment to Daniel
Melson for ye. Sum of fifty Eight Pounds fourteen Shillings and two hundred and
Eighty Eight pounds of Tobbo. which som was recovered by ye. said Daniel Melson agt.
Thomas Relph on ye. Eighteenth day of March 1760 in ye. County Court ye. said fifty Eight
pounds fourteen Shills. and two Hundred & Eighty Eight Pounds of Tobacco to be Levied
of Your Bodies goods or Chattles Lands or Tenements for ye. use of ye. said Daniel
Melson in Case ye. said Thomas Relph Shall not pay and satisfie to ye. said Daniel
Melson ye. said fifty Eight Pounds fourteen shillings & two Hundred & Eighty pounds
Eight pounds of Tobb. so as afd. recd. agt. Him wth. ye. Addll. Cost thereon on ye. tenth Day of February
next Taken & Ackd. before us This 18th. Day of June 1760    Joseph Gilliss    William Winder
