June Court 1763 254 Gentlemen Nominated in the within commission and returned the same Endorsed in manner following with the severall depositions thereto annexed December ye 4. day 1761 Then personly came Abraham Outten and Purnall Outten two of the within commissioners nominated before Samuel Addams one of his Lordships Justices of peace for the within county of Somersett and was Quallified according to act of assembly in such case made and provided Sworn before Samuell Addams Somersett County to witt Depositions of Witnesses Taken upon a Tract of Land called Boston in Somersett County ye. 29 day of december in the year of our Lord God 1761 before us commissioners appointed by the worshipfull the Justices of Somersett County Court to Examine Evidence in relati- -on to the bounds of a Tract of Land in the said county of Somersett called Boston or any other Lands on which the same may depend as followeth to wit Somersett to wit the deposition of William Addams aged forty four or theirabouts being sworn on the holy Evangelist of Almighty God deposeth as followeth that about fifteen or sixteen years agoe that old Charles Cottingham got old Southey Whittington to Run a line for him and the said Whittington begun at an old pine Stump that stands about fifteen yards from the corner of old Charles Cottinghams cornfield where an old Gate formly hung a cross the Road and about a North east Corse from the corner of the said ^ the bounder that stands by Thomas Cottinghams up the dam and further this deponant saith not February ye 10. 1762 Somersett To wit the deposition of Samuell Prior aged Forty or their about being Sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God deposeth as followeth that he carried the Chane H when Thomas Jones run some Lines for Benjamin Lankford and that they run from an old pine Stump that stands about fifteen yards from the corner of old Charles Cottinghams cornfeild where an old Gate formly hung a cross the Road and about a north east corse from the corner of the said cornfeild and that Charles Cottingham deceased and old Mrs. Sarah Long both said that was the place and that the said Jones came within half a chane Length of the bounder that stands by Thomas Cottinghams up ye. dam and further this deponant saith not December ye 18 day 1762 Somersett to wit The deposition of Thomas Marshall aged fifty two or their- -about being Sworn on the holy Evangalist of Almighty God deposeth as followeth that about he Twenty nine years agoe that ^ was a rideing along the Road with old Mrs. Sarah Long and that she shewed the deponant a Pine and she said that it was a bounder of old Charles Cotting -hams Land and that the said Pine Stood about fifteen yards from the old Road that went by the corner of old Charles Cottinghams cornfeild and about a North Corse from ye said field and at sundry other Times he understood that it was a bounder of Charles Cottinghams
or any three or two of you to be our commissioners to Examine Evidences on behalf of a certain Christopher Piper of Somerset County in relation to the bounds of a Tract of Land called Barbers Rest or the bounds of any other Land on which the bounds of the afsd: Land May depend we therefore require you or any three or two of you at Some time and place as to you or any three or two of you shall seem convenient you meet on the afsd. Land called Barbers Rest or the bounds of any other Land on which the bounds of the afsd: Land may depend you first having Taken your oaths on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God & there cause to come before you or any three or two of you all such Evidences as Shall be to you or any three or two of you Nomi- -nated |
