Permit the Same unknown person to have Carnal knowledge of her body and a bastard Child on the
body of her the Said Catherine then and there beget to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the
Evil Example of all others in Such Case offending Contrary to the peace of the Said Lord Propry that now
is his Good Rule and Government And Against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such Case
made and Provided and So forth    And Whereupon the Said Attry of the Same Lord Propry for the Same
Lord Propry prays Advice of the Court here in the premisses and that due process of Law in this part
may be made Against the Said Catherine to Answer of and upon the premisses and So forth
           Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should take
the Said Catherine Austen if &c. to Answer &c.
           And now to witt at a Court of his Lordship held at Princes Ann Town the third Tuesday
of June Anno Dom. 1763 before the Justices thereof Came as well George Hayward Gent his
Lordships Attorney who for his Said Lordship in this part Prosecuteth as the afd. Catherine Austen in her
Proper person According to a Certain Recogizance by her in that part before Acknowledged and had
a hearing of the Information afd. Saith that She Cannot deny but that She is Guilty of the premisses
in the Information afd. Specified above upon her Imposed in manner and form as by the Information
afd. above Against her Supposed and Maketh Oath that Edward Bennet is the father of the Child She
Stands Informed Against for &c.    Whereupon all and Singular the premisses being Seen and by the
Court fully understood it is Considered by the Court here that the afd. Catn Austen for the offence afd.
Specified be taken which Said Catn Austen present here in Court as afd. is fined for the Offence afd. the
Sum of thirty Shillings Current Money which She paid to the Sheriff for the use of the County afd. &c

The Same
@    Somerset to wit    The Jurors for his Lordship the Right Honrble the Lord Propry that now is for
Edward Bennet    the body of Somerset County upon their Oath present that Edward Bennet Late of Stepney
Parish in the County afd. Planter on the XXI day of May in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven
hundred and Sixty Two at the parish afd. in the County afd. did Commit Fornication with a Certain Charity
Austen and a bastard Child on the body of the Said Catherine then and there did beget to the high displeasure
of Almighty God to the Evil Example of all others in Such Case Offending Against the peace of the Said
Lord Propry that now is his Good Rule and Government and Against the form of the Act of Assembly
in Such Case made and Provided and So forth
      Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should Take Edward Bennet
if &c. to Answer &c.    And now to witt at a Court of his Lordship held at Princes Ann Town the third

afd. Saith that he Cannot deny but that he is Guilty of the premisses in the Indictment afd. above
upon him Imposed in Manner and form as by the Indictment afd. Above Against him Supposed and
is willing to pay his fine for the Same &c. Whereupon all and Singular the premisses being Seen and by
the Court fully understood it is Considered by the Court here that the afd. Edward Bennet for the offence
afd. be taken which Said Edward Bennet present here in Court as afd. is fined the Sum of thirty Shillings
Current money which he paid in Court to the Sheriff for the use of the County &c.    Whereupon the Said Edward
Bennett is Ordered to Give Security to Save and keep Indemnified the Justices of Somerset County from all
Costs Charges and troubles that may Accrew by means of the Birth of the Bastard Child afd
   Thereupon a Certain Wm. Shaw and Joseph Holder of Somerset County present here in Court in their
Proper Persons Acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his Lordship the Lord Propry in thirty pounds
