John Covington	their Oath present that John Covington late of Somerset Parish

in ^ County af^d. Planter on y^e. fourth day of December in y^e. year of our Lord one thousand
Seven hundred & fifty Nine with force and Arms at y^e. Parish af^d. in y^e. County
af^d. in and upon a Certain Young Baily M^c.Gloughlin in y^e. peace of God and
the said Lord prop^ry then and there being an assault did make and him y^e. said
Young Bailey M^cGloughlin then & there did beat wound & Evilly treat so that
of his Life it was much dispaired and other harms to him y^e. said Young Bailey
M^cGlouglin then and there did to the great Damage of him y^e. said Young
Bailey M^cGloughlin & against y^e. Peace of his Lord prop^ry that now is
his good rule & government &^c.
   Thereupon it is Commanded y^e. Sherriffe of Somerset County that he Should Take
John Covington Late of Somerset Parish in y^e. County af^d. Planter if he Should be
found in his Bailywick & him Should safe keep so that he might have his Body
before y^e. Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held at Princes
Ann Town y^e. third Tuesday of June Anno Dom. one thousand seven hundred
& Sixty to Answer unto his Lordship of & Concerning y^e. Indictment aforesaid
Att which said third Tuesday of June & year af^d. Came y^e. af^d. John Covington in
his proper person and had a hearing of y^e. Indictment af^d. Saith that he will not Contend
with his said Lordship but for y^e. Saving Costs Labour & Expences about y^e.
Premisses Submits himself at fine with his said Lordship by Occasion of y^e.
Premisses & puts himself upon favour of y^e. Court
Whereupon all and Singular the Premisses being seen and by y^e. Court here fully
understood it is Considered by y^e. Court here that y^e af^d. John Covington for y^e
Premisses and offence af^d. in y^e. Indictment af^d. above Specified be taken &^c.
Which said John Covington Present here in Court as af^d. is fined for y^e Premisses
and offence af^d. y^e. Sum of Forty Shillings Current money of Maryland which
he paid here in Court to y^e. Sherriffe of y^e. County af^d. for y^e. use of his Lordship &^c.
