vs	Somerset to wit the Jurors for his Lordship the Right Honrble the Lord propry that now is
Christopher Piper	for the body of Somerset County upon their oath present that Christopher Piper Late

of Stepney Parish in the county afs^d: planter on the XXX day of Nov^r in the year of our Lord one thou
-sand seven hundred sixty and two with force and arms at the parish afs^d: in the county afs^d: in &
upon a certain Jn^o. Hales Gordey in the peace of God and the said prop^ry then and there being an
assault did make and him the said John Hales Gordy then and there did beat wound and Ill
Treat so that of his Life it was much dispaired and other harms to him the said John Hales
Gordy then and there did to the great damage of the said John Hales Gordy and against the peace
of his Lordship the Right Hon^rble the Lord prop^ry that now is his good Rule and Government & so forth
Thereupon it is commanded the sheriff of Somerset County that he should take the afs^d Christopher
Piper if he should be found in his bailywick and him should safe keep so that he might have his body
before his Lordships Justices at the Next Court to be held at princess Ann Town the third tuesday of June
Anno Dom: one thousand seven hundred and sixty three to answer unto his said Lordship of and concern
-ing the Indictment afs^d: &^c            Att which day here came as well George Hayward Gen^t his
Lordships Attorney who for his said Lordship in this part prosecuteth as the afs^d: Christopher Piper in
his proper person & the afs^d: Christopher Piper had a hearing of the Indictment afs^d: saith that he will not contend
with his Lordship but for the saving costs trouble & Expences about the premises submits himself at fine
with his said Lordship and puts himself upon favour of the court &^c      Whereupon all and
singular the premises being seen and by the court fully understood it is considered that the afs^d
Christopher Piper for the offence afs^d: above mentioned be taken &^c      Which said Christopher Piper
present here in court as afs^d: is fined for the premises and offence afs^d: the sum of one shilling Curr^t:
Money of Maryland which he paid to the sheriff for the use of his Lordship &^c
