March Court 1763 212 -ledge of her body and a bastard Child on the body of her the said Esther then & there did beget To the High dis pleasure of Almighty God To the Evil Example of all others in Such Case offending contrary To the peace of the said Lord propry that now is his good Rule and Government and against the Form of the act of assembly in Such Case made and provided and So forth And Whereupon the same Attorney of the same Lord propry for the Lord propry prays advice of the court here in the premises and that due process of Law in this part be made against the said Esther To answer of and upon the premises &c Thereupon it is Commanded the sheriff of Somerset County that he should take the afd Esther Sterling if &c to answer &c And now to witt at a court of his Lordship held at princess Ann Town According to a Certain Recognizance by her and her Sery in that part before Acknowledged the third tuesday of March Anno Dom. 1763 Came the afsd Esther Sterling in her proper person ^ & had a hearing of the Information afsd Saith that she Cannot deny but that she is guilty of the premises in the Information afsd above upon her imposed in manner and form as by the Information afd above against her Supposed and maketh Oath that Naboth Taylor is the father of the child for which she stands informed against &c Whereupon all and Singular the premises being Seen and by the court fully understood it is con -sidered that the afd Esther Sterling for the offence afd above mentioned be taken &c Which said Ester Sterling present here in Court as afd. is fined for the premises & offence afsd the sum of thirty shillings Curt Money for the same according To act of assembly Thereupon the said Esther Sterling Together with Aaron Sterling her Sery both present here in Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his Lordship the Lord propry in three pounds Curt Money of Maryland of their bodies Goods and Chattles Lands and Tenements Joyntly and Severally To be made and levied to the use of his Lordship his heirs & successors if it happen that Esther Sterling do not pay to the Justices of Somerset County Court on or before the Eighteenth day of March Anno Dom. 1764 the sum of thirty shillings Curt Money for her fine afd
devil on the XXX Day of December in the Year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred Sixty and two at the parish afsd in the county afsd within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Wickedly Corruptly frau -dulently and Deceitfully pass utter and Give away in Payment To a certain John McDowell for a Just and true debt of him the said John Records to the said John McDowell Due Two pieces of Base metal Coined and counterfeited according to the Similitude and likeness of Good Silver Spa -nish Milled Peices of Eight as good True and pure Silver Spanish Milled peices of Eight at the Rate of Such Good Spanish Silver peices of Eight Current within this province knowing at the time of Paying Uttering & passing of the said Two peices of Base Mettle that they were Counterfeit and false Coined in the Similitude and likeness of Two Good pure Silver Spanish Milled peices of Eight to the great Prejudice and deceit of the said John McDowell and against the peace of his Lordship the Right Honble the Lord propry that now is His good Rule & Government and So forth Thereupon it is commanded the sheriff of Somerset County that Immediately he should Take the afsd John Records if he should be found in his Bailywick and him should Safe keep So that he might have his body before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset now Sitting at princess Ann Town this Instant March To answer unto his said Lordship of & concerning the Indictment afd &c |
