March Court 1762 211 for the offence afd above mentioned be Taken &c Which Said Robert Parsons present here in court as afd is fined for the offence afd the sum of thirty shillings Curt Money which he paid To the sheriff for the use of the county &c Whereupon the said Robert Parsons is ordered To give Securty To Save and keep Indemnified the Justices of Somerset County Court from all Costs Charges & Troubles which might accrue by means of the birth of the Bastard Child afd Thereupon a certain Nathan Culver present here in Court in his proper person acknowledged himself To be held & firmly bound unto his Lordship the Lord propry in thirty pounds Curt Money of Maryland of his body Goods and Chattles Lands and Tenements to be made and levied To the use of his Lordship his heirs & Successors if it happen that Robert Parsons do not Save and keep Indemnified the Justices of Somerset County Court from all Costs charges & Troubles which may accrue by means of the birth of the Bastard Child afd
and Two with force & arms at the parish afd in the County afd in and upon a certain William Nutter in the peace of God and the said Lord propry then and there being an assault did make and him the said William then and there did Beat wound and Ill Treat So that of his Life it was much dispaired and other harms to him the said William then and there did To the great damage of the said William against the peace of his Lordship the Right Honrble the Lord propry that now is and his good Rule and Government and So forth Thereupon it is commanded the sheriff of Somerset County that he should take the afd Robt Hopkins if &c To answer &c And now To wit at a court of his Lordship the Lord propry held at princess Ann Town the third tuesday of March According to a Certain Recognizance by him before Entered into afd Anno Dom. 1763 Came the afd Robert Hopkins in his proper person ^ & had a hearing of the Indictment ^ Saith that he will not Contend with his Lordship but for the saveing Costs Trouble & Expences about the premises Submits himself at Fine with his said Lordship & puts himself upon Favour of the court &c Whereupon all and Singular the premises being Seen & by the Court fully understood it is considered that the afd Robert Hopkins for the offence afd above mentioned be taken &c Which said Robert present here in Court as afd is fined the sum of one shilling Curt money which he paid to the sheriff for the use of his Lordship &c
Sampson Wheatley and others his Associates the said Lord propry his Justices of the same County Court and for the same Lord propry doth give the same Justices here to understand and be informed that Eunice Olphey Late of Stepney parish in the county afd Spinster the XXX Day of Janry in the Year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred Sixty & Two at the parish afsd in the County afsd did Commit Fornication with a certain Person unknown and did permit the Same unknown person to have carnal Knowledge of her body and a bastard Child on the body of her the said Eunice then & there beget To the High displeasure of Almighty God to the Evil is Example of all others in Such Case offending contrary to the peace of the said Lord propry that now ^ his good rule and Government & against the Form of the act of assembly in such case made and provided and So forth And Whereupon the same Attorney of the same Lord propry for the same Lord propry prays advice of the Court here in the premises and that due process of Law in this part may be made against the said Eunice To answer of and upon the premises And So forth Thereupon it is commanded the sheriff of Somerset County that he should Take the afd Eunice Alpha if &c To an -swer &c And now to witt at a court of his Lordship held at princess Ann Town the third tues According to a Certain Recognizance by her and her Sery in that part before Acknowledged -day of March Anno Dom. 1763 Came the afd Eunice Alpha in her proper person ^ and had a hearing of the Information afd Saith that she Cannot deny but that she is guilty of the premises in the Information afd above upon |
