June Court 1760 21 Charles William Att which day here Came as well ye. afd. afd. And hereupon ye. said William as before Defends ye. force & Injury when &c & saith that he did not Assume upon himself in manner & form as ye. afd. Charles above afd. him hath Complained and of this he puts himself upon ye. Country &c. and ye Plft. in Like manner Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriffe of Somerset County that he Should Cause to Come before before his Lordships Justices at the next Court to be held at Princes Ann Town the third Tuesday of June then next following Twelve &c. by whom &c. and who neither &c. to Recognize and so forth because as well &c. And the same day is given to the afd. parties here &c. Att which day here Came as well the afd. Charles Brown Exr. as afd. as the afd. William Smith by their Attorneys afd. And the Jurors of that Jury by John Dennis Gent Sheriff of the County afd. thereof Impannelled being Called to witt Levin Dashiell, Joseph Allen, William Fleming, Teague Riggen George Day Scott, Michael Dorman, Jonathan Stott, Zorobable King, McKinney Porter, William Pollit Thomas Standford, and Marcy Beauchamp, Came who to say the truth of the Premisses being Elected tried and Sworn upon their Oath Say that William Smith did not Assume upon himself in Manner and form as the afd. William Above by pleading hath Alledged Therefore it is Considered that the afd. Charles Brown Exr. as afd. Take nothing by his Writt afd. but for his false Clamour be thereof in Mercy and that the afd. William Smith Goe thereof without day &c
be found in his Bailywick & him should safe keep so that he might have his Body before ye. Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held at Princes Ann Town ye. third Tuesday of March Anno Dom. one thousand seven hundred & sixty to Answer unto Mathew Cannon of a plea that he render him ye. sum of fifteen pounds Current Money of Maryland which to him he owes & unjustly detains &c. And ye same day is given to ye afd. Mathew here &c And hereupon ye. said Mathew Cannon declared against ye. afd. Ezekiell Humphris in ye plea afd. in form following Somerset to wit Ezekiell Humphris Late of Somerset County Planter Otherwise Called I Ezekiell Humphris was summoned to answer unto Mathew Cannon of a plea that he render him ye. sum of fifteen pounds Current money of Maryland which to him he owes & unjustly Detains &c. And Whereupon ye. said Mathew Cannon by Josiah Polk his atty says that whereas ye. said Ezekiell on ye. second day of August Anno Dom. one thousand seven hundred and fifty nine at ye. County afd. by his Certain writing obligatory which ye. said Mathew Cannon sealed with ye. seal of ye said Ezekiell here in Court shews whose date is ye. day & year afd. granted himself to be held &c firmly Bound unto ye. said Mathew Cannon in ye. afd. sum of fifteen pounds Current money of Maryland to be paid to ye said Mathew when he should be thereto |
