And hereupon the said John Records puts in his place Samuel Wilson Gent Attorney at Law against the afd. Samuel
Hath of the afd. plea              And hereupon at the prayer of the parties afd. day is to them now here given
until next court to be held at princess Ann Town the third tuesday of November then next following in the
state that now saveing to the parties afd.            Att which day here came the parties afd. by their Attor
-neys afd. And hereupon the said Samuel declared against the afd. John in the plea afd. in form following
      Somerset fst John Records Late of somerset county planter was summoned to answer unto Samuel Hatch of a plea that
he render unto him the sum of thirty pounds fourteen shillings & six pence current money of Maryland which to him he owes
and unjustly detains & so forth         And Whereupon the said Samuel Hatch by Geo Hayward his Attorney says that
whereas the said John the twenty fifth day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred sixty and two at

the county afd. by his certain writing ^ which the said Samuel with the seal of the said John sealed here to the court shews
whose date is the same day and Year afsd. acknowledged himself to be held and firmly bound unto the said Samuel in the full
and just sum of thirty pounds fourteen shillings & six pence good and lawful money of Maryland to be paid to the said Sameul
when he the said John should be thereto afterwards required Nevertheless the said John tho often thereto required the afsd sum
of thirty pounds fourteen shillings & six pence current money of Maryland unto the said Samuel he hath not paid but the
same to him to pay hitherto altogether hath denyed and still doth deny and unjustly detain whereupon the said Samuel
says he is worse and hath damage to the Value of thirty pounds fourteen shillings & six pence current money of Maryland
and thereof he brings suit & so forth J Doe & R Roe pledges of prosg.
      And the afd. John Records by his Attorney afd. comes and defends the force and Injury when &c and saith that he
cannot deny the action afd. of the afd. Samuel Hatch (nor but that the writing obligatory afd. is the deed of him the said
John Records) nor but that he owes the afd. Samuel Hatch the afd. thirty pounds fourteen shillings & six pence in manner
and form as the afd. Samuel Hatch above against him hath declared            Therefore it is considered that
the afd. Samuel Hatch Recover against the afd. John Records his debt afd. and his damages by occasion of the deten
285    -tion of that same debt to                           pounds of Tobacco to the same Samuel of his assent by the court
here adjudged & the afd. John in Mercy &c

SW WH    John Records    Command was given unto the sheriff of somerset county that he should take John Records
Late of somerset county planter if he should be found in his Bailywick and him should safe keep so that he
might have his body before the Justices of his Lordships county court of somerset to be held at princes Ann Town
the third tuesday of August Anno Dom. one thousand seven hundred and sixty one to answer unto Rencher Roberts
of a plea of trespass upon the case and so forth and the same day is given to the afd. Rencher Here &c
           Att which day here came the afd. Rencher Roberts by Littleton Dennis his Attorney and the sheriff to
witt John Dennis now here returned that he had taken the afd. John Records whose body here at this day he had rea
-dy to answer the afd. Rencher Roberts of the afd. plea as to him it was commanded         Thereupon the afd. John
Records at the prayer of the afd. Rencher Roberts is adjudged to give special Bail to the action afd.
           Whereupon a certain Benjamin Huggins present here in court in his proper person undertook for the
said John Records and assumed upon himself that if it should happen that Judgement in the plea afd. should be ren
-dred for the said Rencher Roberts against the afd. John Records or that he the said John Records should be therein
convict that then he the said John should pay and satisfy unto the afd. Rencher the Judgement of the court
thereupon or Render his Body in Execution of such Judgement to the prison of the sheriff of somerset county in
satisfaction thereof or that he the said Benjamin Huggins will do the same for him &c.
And hereupon the said John Records puts in his place Samuel Wilson & William Hayward Gent Attorneys at Law
against the afd. Rencher Roberts of the afd. plea              And hereupon at the prayer of the parties
afd. Day is them now here given until next court to be held at princess Ann Town the third tuesday of November
then next following in the state that now saveing to the parties afd.            Att which day here came the parties
afd. by their Attorneys afd. And hereupon the afd. Rencher Roberts declared against the afd. John Records in the plea
afd. in form following            Somerset fst John Records Late of somerset county planter was sumoned to an
-swer unto Rencher Roberts of a plea that He render him six pounds fifteen shillings and three pence current
money which to him he owes and unjustly detains &c         And Whereupon the said Rencher by Litt Dennis
his attorney says that whereas the said John the third day of March Anno Dom. MDCCLVIII at the county afd. by his
