he had ready to answer the afd. Thomas Wilson of the afd. plea as to him it was commanded and further the same sheriff
returned that he had served the afd. Nathaniel Whitaker with a copy of the foregoing decl. according to act of assembly in
such case provided &c                 Whereupon the said Nathaniel Whitaker by Littleton Dennis & Samuel Wilson his
Attorneys comes and defends the force & Injury when &c and prays leave thereof to Imparle here until next court to be held
at princess Ann Town the third tuesday of November then next following and he hath it & the same day is given to the afd. Thomas
here also &c         Att which day here came as well the afd. Thomas Wilson as the afd. Nathaniel Whitaker by their
Attorneys afd. and the afd. Nathaniel as before defends the force & Injury when &c and says that he cannot deny the action
afd. of the afd. Thomas Wilson nor but that he did assume upon himself in manner and form as the afd. Thomas Wilson above
against him hath complained and as to the damage of the same Thomas by him by occasion of the premisses in that
part sustained the same Nathaniel Whitaker saith and acknowledgeth that the same Thomas hath sustained Dama
-ges by occasion of the premisses beyond his costs and charges by him about his suit in that part opposed to
nine pounds five shillings Curt Money and not more and because the afd. Thomas Wilson denies not this but the
same allegation grants to be true prays Judgement for these damages above acknowledged together with his costs and
charges afd. to him to be adjudged &c            Therefore by consent of the parties afd. it is considered that the
afd. Thomas Wilson recover against the afd. Nathaniel Whitaker his damages afd. to the afd. nine pounds five shillings
by the afd. Nathaniel in form afd. acknowledged as also
205    pounds of tobacco for his costs and charges afd. to the same Thomas Wilson at his request by the court
now here of the assent of the parties afd. adjudged which certain Damages in the whole amount to nine pounds
five shillings Curt Money and
        pounds of Tobacco and the afd. Nathaniel in mercy &c

GH    Samuel Hatch

@    Command was given unto the sheriff of somerset county that he should take John Records Late of so
SW    John Records    -merset county planter Otherwise called I John Records of somerset county in the province of Maryland
planter if he should be found in his Bailywick and him should safe keep so that he might have his body before
the Justices of his Lordships county court of somerset to be held at princess Ann Town the third tuesday of August
Anno Dom. one thousand seven hundred sixty and two answer unto Samuel Hatch of a plea tat he render unto
him the sum of thirty pounds fourteen shillings and six pence current money of Maryland which to him he owes &
unjustly detains and so forth and the same day is given to the afd. Samuel Hatch Here &c

        Att which day here came the afd. Samuel Hatch by ^ his Attorney    and the sheriff to wit Ephraim Wilson
sheriff of the county afd. now here returned that he had taken the afd. John Records whose body here at this day he
had ready to answer the afd. Samuel Hatch of the afd. plea as to him it was commanded         Thereupon the afd.
John Ricords at the prayer of the afd. Samuel Hatch is adjudged to give special Bail to the action afd
           Thereupon a certain John McDowell present here in court in his proper person undertook for the said John
Records and assumed upon himself that if it should happen that Judgement in the plea afd. should be rendred for the afd. Sa
-muel Hatch against the afd. John Records or that the afd. John Records should be therein convict that then he the said John
Records should pay and satisfy unto the afd. Samuel the Judgement of the court thereupon or render his body in Execution of
such Judgement to the prison of the sheriff of somerset county in satisfaction thereof or that he the said John McDowell will
do the same for him &c.                                                                                                                     And
