August Court 1762 168 of the Same Lord Propry held for Somerset County to wit at Princes Ann Town in the County afd. the xvii day of August Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and Sixty Two before Sampson Wheatly Esqr and others his Associates the Said Lord Propry his Justices of the Same Justices here to Understand and be Informed that Elinor Oney Late of Stepney parish in the County afd. Spinster on the xx day of July Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred Sixty and Two with force and Arms at the parish afd. in the County afd. in and Upon a Certain Elizabeth Hull in the peace of God and the Said Lord Propry then and there being an Assault did Make and her the Said Elizabeth then and there did beat Wound and ill treat so that of her Life it was Much dispaired and other harms to her the Said Elizabeth And Against the peace of his Lordship the Right Honrble the Lord Propry that now is his Good Rule and Government and So forth Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should take the Said Elinor Oney if &c to Answer &c. And now to witt at a Court of his Lordship held at Princes Ann Town the third Tuesday of August And Year afd. before the Justices thereof Came the afd. Elinor Oney in her proper person and had a hearing of the Information afd. Saith that She will not Contend with his Said Lordship but for the Saveing Costs Labour and Expences about the premisses Submits herself at fine with his Said Lordship and puts herself upon favour of the Court &c Whereupon all and Singular the premisses being Seen and by the Court fully understood it is Considered by the Court here that the afd. Elinor Oney for the premisses and Offence afd. in the Information afd. Specified be taken &c. Which Said Elinor Oney present here in Court as afd. is fined for the Offence afd. the Sum of Twenty Shillings Curt Money which she paid to the Sheriff for the use of
of the Same County Court and for the Same Lord Propry doth Give the Same Justices here to Understand And be Informed that Elizabeth Martin Late of Stepney Parish in the Said County of Somerset the xx day One of August in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty ^ at the parish in the County afd. did Commit Fornication with a Certain person unknown and did permit the Same unknown person to have Carnal knowledge of her body and a bastard Child on the body of her the Said Elizabeth then and there did beget to the Great displeasure of Almighty God to the Evill Example of all Others in Such Case offending Contrary to the peace of the Said Lord Propry that now is his Good Rule and Government And Against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such Case made and provided and So forth And Whereupon the Same Attorney of the Same Lord Propry for the Lord Propry prays Advice of the Court here in the premisses and that due Process of Law may be Made Agt the Said Elizth. to Answer of and upon the premisses and So forth Therefore it is Commanded the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should take the Said Elizth. Martin if &c. to Answer &c. And now to witt at a Court of his Lordship held at Princes Ann Town the third Tuesday of August and Year afd. Came the afd. Elizth. Martin in her proper person and had a hearing of the Information afd. Saith that She Cannot deny but that She is Guilty of the premisses in the Information afd. Above upon her Imposed in Manner and form as by the Information afd. Above Against her Supposed and Maketh Oath that Charles Williams is the father of the Child She Stands Informed Against and is Willing to pay her fine for the Same &c Whereupon all and Singular the premisses being Seen and by the Court fully understood it is Considered by the Court here that the afd. Elizth. Martin for the Offence afd. be taken &c. Which Said Elizth. Martin present here in Court in her proper person is fined for the Offence afd. the Sum of thirty Shillings Curt Money which she paid to the Sheriff for the use of the County &c.
