Anno Dom. one thousand Seven hundred and Sixty One to Answer unto Samuel Wilkins of A plea of trespass
upon the Case &^c       And the Same day is Given to the af^d. Samuel here &^c
   Att which day here Came the af^d. Samuel Wilkins by Samuel Wilson his Attorney and the Sheriff to witt John
Dennis Gen^t now here Returned that he had taken the af^d. William Geddes whose body here at this day
he had Ready to Answer the af^d. Samuel Wilkins of the af^d. plea as to him it was Commanded
             Whereupon the Said William Geddes puts in his place W^m. Hayward Gen^t Attorney at Law
Against the af^d. Samuel Wilkins of the af^d. plea
   And thereupon at the prayer of the parties af^d. day is to them now here Given untill next Court to be
held at Princes Ann Town the third Tuesday of March then next following in the State that now Saveing to
the parties af^d. &^c       Att which day here Came the parties af^d. by their Attorneys af^d. And hereupon
the Said Samuel Complained Against the af^d. William in the plea af^d. in form following
Somerset fs^t William Geddes Late of Somerset County Merchant was Attached to Answer unto Samuel
Wilkins of A plea of trespass upon the Case &^c
      And Whereupon the Said Samuel Wilkins by Samuel Wilson his Attorney Complains that whereas the
Said William Geddes on the Seventh day of June in the Year of our Lord God Seventeen hundred and Sixty one at
the County af^d. was Indebted unto him the Said Samuel Wilkins in the Sum of Six pounds and two pence half penny
Cur^t Money of Maryland for the Severall Matters and things in the Account hereto Annexed mentioned and Specified
And So thereof indebted being in Consideration thereof Afterwards to wit the day and Year af^d. at the County af^d. upon
himself did Assume and to the Said Samuel then and there faithfully promise that he the Said William the Said Sum
of Money to the Said Samuel when he the Said William Should be thereto Afterwards Required he would well
And faithfully pay and Content Yet the Said William his Promise and Assumption so as af^d. made not Regarding
but plotting and fraudulently intending him the Said Samuel in that part Craftily and Subtilly to deceive and defraud
the Said Sum of Money af^d. to the Said Samuel or Any part thereof hath not paid or Contented but the Same to him to
pay hitherto hath Refused and Still doth Refuse altho thereto Afterwards to wit the day and Year af^d. at the
County af^d. and often Since by the Said Samuel Required to the Damage of the Said Samuel Ten pounds Cur^t
Money of Maryland and therefore he brings Suit &^c                                          Pledges &^c. J: Doe & R: Roe

11^th: of Jan^ry 1762    Samuel Wilkins made Oath on the holy Evangelist of Almighty God that the within Acc^t as it Stands
Stated Against William Geddes is Just and true and that he hath not Rec^d. Any part thereof nor Any Security or Satisfaction
for the Same                                                                             before            Tho^s. Jones
      And the af^d. William Geddes by his Attorney af^d. Comes and defends the force and Injury when &^c. And
prays Leave thereof to Imparle here untill next Court to be held at Princes Ann Town the third Tuesday of
June then next following and he hath it and the Same day is Given to the af^d. Samuel here also &^c

           Att which day here Came as well the af^d. ^ Wilkins as the af^d. William Geddes by their Attorneys
af^d. And hereupon the Said William Geddes prays further Leave thereof to Imparle here untill next Court to be held
at Princes Ann Town the third Tuesday of August then next following and he hath it and the Same day is given
to the af^d. Samuel here also &^c
           Att which day here Came as well the af^d. Samuel Wilkins as the af^d. William Geddes by
their Attorneys af^d. And hereupon the Said William as before defends the force and Injury when &^c. and
