of the Peace and was duly Qualified to Execute the within Commission before                        Samuel Addams
Somerset County fst    The Deposition of Majr. Sampson Wheatly Aged fifty One Years or there Abouts being Sworn
on the holy Evagelis of Almighty God deposeth as followeth (to witt) that as near as this Deponant Can Remember the
time About Eighteen or Nineteen Years past Capn. David Wilson and Capn. Saml. Wilson and himself were Chosen Arbitrators
to determine A Certain Controversy between John Williams and Robert Boyer in Relation to the title of a tract of Land
Called Gleneath then in Possession of John Williams afd. and One Other tract of Land Called Morrises Hope then in
Possession of the afd. Robert Boyer and this Deponant Saith that then and there upon the afd. tract of Land Called
Gleneath a Certain James Otley was Sworn to Relate what he knew of the bounds of the afd. tracts of Land who upon
Oath (before him and the Other Arbitrators afd. declared as follows (to wit) that he the Said James Otley had lived
                                              Soun or
on the South Side of Pocomoke ^ Bay for forty or fifty Years before that time and used frequently to go fishing to or
near Spenscicks Point at the Mouth of Pocomoke River and used to go a Shore thereon Spensciks point often and
this deponant Saith that James Ottley declared that when he first knew of Spensciks Point there was a Small
Hamock of Land on the End of the Said Point with Sundry Small trees Growing thereon and one Large White Oak
with Sixteen Notches on it and the Oak was then dead but not Rotten So that the Notches were Very plain in the
Said tree and the Deponant Saith that James Otley declared that he Asked the Reason of the Notches being on
the aforementioned Oak and Simon Smith and Other persons told him the Said Otley that the afore
Mentioned Oak was the Bounder of Jenckin Prices Land that he Lived on or had formerly lived on but which
this deponant does not Remember and this deponant Saith that they had Agreed to Give an Award in Robert Boyers
favour but Samuel Wilson and Boyer both died About that time and put an End to the Matter and this deponant
further Saith not                                                                                                  Sampson Wheatley
   Somerset County fst    The Deposition of Benjamin Benston Aged forty Six Years or thereabouts being Sworn on
the holy Evangelis of Almighty God Deposeth as followeth (to witt) that Some Years past but how Long this Deponant does
not Remember that heard James Otley Say that there Stood a White Oak on the End of Spenciks point marked with
Sixteen Notches and further this deponant declareth that he heard his first Wife Say that when She was a Girl that
She Saw a Stump with Notches on it Standing down the Soun or bay Side from the End of the Point near the Mouth
of a Small drean Near to where there is now a Small Slipe pine which is a Small distant Easterly from Elias White
fence which is Partly made with Whole Cuts of Timber Commonly Called and known by the name of Water Work
And this deponant further Saith not                                                                             Benja. Benston
   The Above is a true Deposition taken by us the Subscribers       Jno. Broughton

Somerset County fst    The Deposition of John Ellis Aged Eighty Years or there Abouts being Sworn on the holy
Evangelis of Almighty God Deposeth as followeth to witt that Robert Boyer Shewed him this Deponant a Stump
which is down the Soun or bay Side from the End of Spenciks Points near the Mouth of A Small Drain near to Where
there is now a Small Slipe Pine which is a Small distant Easterly from Elias White fence which is Partly made
with Hole Cust of timber Commonly Called and known by the Name of the Water Work and this deponant declareth
that Robert Boyer told him that the aforementioned Stump had been or was Bounder of a tract of Land Called Morrises
Hope and this deponant further Saith not                                                                             John Ellis
   the Above is a true Deposition taken by us the Subscribers       Jno. Broughton

Somerset County fst    The Deposition of Capn. Henry Schoolfield Aged Sixty three Years or there abouts being Sworn
on the holy Evangelis of Almighty God deposeth as followeth (to wit) that about Eight or nine Years past as near
as this Deponant Can Remember the time that this deponant hapned to be present when Certain Commissioners
took the Deposition of James Otley of What he knew in Relation to the Proof of the bounds of a tract of Land
Called Gleneath and this Deponant Saith that the afd. James Otley declared before the Said Commissioners
that he the Said James Otley and Simon Smith hapned upon the Said Land Gleneath and the Said James
Otley declared he Set down under a Marked White Oak near to Where the Point of Marsh Maketh from
the high Ground by the Side of Pocomoke River About Eighteen or Nineteen Yards Easterly from a Marked
Pessimon tree Marked with Twelve Notches by we the Commissioners and this deponant Saith that the afd.
