County afd. did Commit Fornication with a Certain Negro Slave to the Jurors unknown and did Permit the Same unknown Negro Slave to have Carnal knowledge of her body and a Bastard Child on the body of her the Said Sue then and there to beget to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the Evil Example of all others in Such Case Offending Contrary to the peace of the Said Lord Propry that now is his good Rule and Government And Against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such Case made and Provided and So forth Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should Take the Said Molatto Sue if &c. to Answer &c. And now here to witt at a Court of his Lordship held at Princes Ann Town the third Tuesday of August being the Eighteenth day of the Same Month Anno Dom. one thousand Seven hundred and Sixty One before the Justices thereof Came the afd. Molatto Sue in her Proper Person and had A hearing of the Indictment afd. Saith that She Cannot deny but that She is Guilty of the Premisses in the Indictment afd. Above upon her Imposed in Manner and form as by the Indictment afd. Above Against her Supposed Whereupon all and Singular the Premisses been Seen and by the Court fully understood it is Considered by the Court here that for as Much as there is due to the County of Somerset Seven Years Service from Such persons as are Guilty of Inordinate Copulation afd. And Likewise that Such Issue begott by Such Copulation become a Servant untill it Arrive at the Age of thirty One Years According to Act of Assembly in Such Case provided &c. that the afd. Molatto Sue become a Servant for Seven Years for Such Copulation afd. and that Ned the Issue of the afd. Sue and begott by the Copulation afd. become a Servant untill he Arrive at the Age of thirty One Years Whereupon it is Ordered by the Court here that the afd. Sue Return to her Master Thomas Collins Service And that the Said Thomas Return her to the Justices of Somerset County Court Immediately after her now Servitude Expire in Order to be Sold for the Inordinate Copulation afd. And Likewise it is Ordered that John Dennis high Sheriff of Somerset County Immediately Sell Ned the Issue of the afd. Sue and begot by the Copulation afd. to the highest Bidder for the term of Thirty One Years to Commence from the time of his Birth he being now four Years of Age &c And afterwards in the Same Court Came the afd. Sheriff and Returned that he by Virtue of the order afd. had Sold the afd. Ned the Issue of the afd. Sue and begot by the Copulation afd. for the term of thirty One Years to Commence from the time of his Birth (being now four Years of Age) to Thomas Collins for the Quantity of Two thousand eight hundred and fifty Pounds of Tobacco he being the highest Bidder &c
Answer &c. Elizth. Tull in her Proper Person and had a hearing of the Presentment afd. Saith that She Cannot deny but that She is Guilty of the Premisses in the Presentment afd. Above Against her Supposed and Maketh Oath that a Certain Nehemiah Turpin is the father of the Child She Stands Presented for and is Willing to pay her fine for the Same &c Whereupon all and Singular the Premisses being Seen and by the Court fully understood it is Considered by the Court here that the afd. Elizth. Tull for the Premisses and Offence afd. in the Presentment afd. Above Specified be taken which Said Elizth. Tull present here in Court as afd. is fined for the offence afd. the Sum of thirty Shillings Curt Money of Maryland which She paid to the Sheriff for the use of the County &c
